You're a star Mick. I probably won't end up using sketchup, but it's great to see all the objects in detail.
Again, thanks for bringing this to the mlg site MickRaider. I can't wait for the update when almost all the pieces are available. I'll try and piece together one of my first designs with them and will be super helpful. Keep the good works up man.
Thanks a lot for these components. I've already tried making something with them, and I came up with this in about 20 minutes. Perfectly symmetrical 1 CTF game, could be changed for two. Still needs more cover though. I'll wait for the new components set, which looks awesome I must say.
Forerunner style shopping mall map, anyone? It'd bring a whole new aesthetic to the urban style if done right, and could bring some epic SWAT times.
We've slowly but surely been making objects. ~18 more till we release the advanced pack. Here's the progress so far.
Pretty sure they're just using the giant image, and anything they're not sure of they look for in videos to compare sizes when they need to, like on page 2 of this thread. At worst, this is accurate enough to begin planning, and at best they've nailed the scale spot on. They've got people here and in their MLG forge forum thread pointing out things they find inaccurate, which haven't been many. It helps a lot that Bungie designed these items on a grid this time around so they fit together unlike Foundry.
Like Ladnil said our main source is the huge image with all the objects. That gives us a pretty decent comparison of all the objects. I've been going through trying to find images of objects that I can use to get multiple angles for the more complex ones. A lot of it is guessing, but it's pretty simple as it appears bungie used a failry consistent scaling. And yeah the MLG FF has been a good help in noticing any object that's off scale.
Here's a object you might not have Because It's not in the huge Forgeworld object picture. The Crates looks like there might be 2 types double and single possibly movable. But looks identical to the ones in Orbit.
I got the sketchup trial. I just looked at the peices and partially built my yamato. I had to sit down when I found the spartan. I had a ship that was HUGE definately 1/1 scale, with only about half of the budget expended. It's going to be awe inspiring to build this. Thanks guys for making these... though I really really suck with this program.
There is a line between the two but if you look at the grey line going across the top there isn't a gap meaning its one object...
Hey Mick, do you have any idea when you will have all of the objects done? I want to get a nice look at em all. I'm not very good with sketch up, but I'm learning. I think this thread should be stickied too...
I'm shooting for a Friday release of the advanced set. It won't have everything but it'll be like 95% done till we can get in Reach and get a good look at the object like the rocks.
I wish people would make model packs like these for Maya/3DS Max. I can't for the life of me use anything else anymore because the controls for more advanced programs are beat into my brain, never to be forgotten. These look great though, and who gives a damn about scale down to decimal points anyway, these should just be used for rough ideas.
