does anyone know if drop pods can still be made in reach. because I build ships mostly in forge so having drop pods is an important feature. can anyone think of the location I should build a pillar of autumn remake? i was thinking at the center of the gulch.
I'm sure it will still be possible to make drop-pods, but it will probably be done in a completely different way (and probably an easier way), with the whole new forge tools and objects. However no one on this forum will know for sure, because none of us have tried it, obviously.
I thought about using a non fixed item filled with (a) vehicle(s) that could spawn in and be held by grav lifts (or powerups). bust (I hope that's still possible) the lifts (Or pickup powerups) and let the item drop, land, and then youroll out. But with falling damage it's sorta pointless to do drop pods. you'd die 80% of the time. However as Spaceships on forgeworld I agree, I already have many planned. including a crashed cruiser infection map.
Why would you make a thread called 'spaceships' and make it about drop pods? Other than that I'd say it would be easy to merge some items together to make some type of pod. And for spaceships on Forge World, I believe SPACE ships should stay in SPACE.
Honestly, quit making pointless threads. This is a discussion section, not a question section. This thread isn't even really questioning Reach's abilities either, you've decided to ask us if we'll be able to make drop pods, which doesn't have anything to do with the title of your thread. Back on subject however, it depends on the movable objects we're given in Reach, and the knowledge that forger has in forge. I'm sure that when given any number of objects, a forger can build just about anything, and this doesn't exclude drop pods. Though it has been mentioned by Ferrex on Bungie.net that there will not be "Spaceships" on Forge World, or "Drop Pods". A drop pod would be a switch, because it crashes down and breaks open to allow the player within it to exit, and Ferrex said there wasn't anything that complex in Forge World.
I have seen barricades on bungie.net in some photos of maps on forge world so at this moment, I assume that drop pods are possible.
What does that even mean? Anything you could ever imagine could be built on Sandbox and Avalanche. What you just said makes just about as much sense as "That one tree in the woods somewhere... You know... The tree?" Read my post, I mean ACTUALLY read it. Don't just quote me and say something completely off topic. I already said that ANYTHING could be forged. When I say ANYTHING, I mean ANYTHING. A spaceship, or a drop pod are not objects. But sure, as long as they fall in the ANYTHING column, then yes, you could forge them. On to the next Bungie.net noob now... Inb4lock...
I wonder how we will make drop pods in Reach. There is fall damage in Reach so I doubt we can do it like we have done it in Halo 3.
Like I said make the 'pod' big enough for a vehicle, let it drop and have the vehicle take the brunt of the damage. that's about all I can see for it.
what if the vehicle blows up? When dropped from the skybubble of sandbox, a mongoose, and most other vehicles would blow up 9 times out of 10 on impact with the ground, unless you got a perfect landing. But as I previously said, there's no reason why drop pods won't be possible on Reach, but it will probably have to be done slightly differently. It's a case of working it out for yourself when the game is released, at least for the first few weeks, until someone works it out and posts a tutorial for everyone to use. As conkerkid is saying, this is a pointless question, because none of us have actually tried it on reach (obviously) so none of us will know for sure.
