In a galaxy blah, blah, blah.

The Death Star is a casual map built around a VIP gametype called "Rebel Scum". This map works well with 4v4, and I bet would work well with more, but 8v8 might be a bit crowded. The map is basically just the Death Star, with 3 platforms which the rebels use to launch their attacks. The gametype is HIGHLY suggested as it makes the map not just playable, but adds some novelty too!

    First off, the Gametype.
Rebel Scum is based off of a VIP gametype. The object of the game is to either get 50 points first, or just more points then your enemies. There is two rounds with each round lasting three minutes or when the VIP dies.
    Scoring goes like this:
Every kill gets you 1 point.
Killing the Vip gets you 5 points.
Every kill the Vip gets earns 2 points.
Every "target" the Vip makes it to, earns 10 points!
There are obviously two teams, the Rebel Alliance and the Empire.

The Rebel Alliance has two types of Characters:

The default character is a rebel trooper
    [IMG]
The Rebel Trooper is always in his orange jumpsuit, starts with a plasma pistol and a needler.
He has NO radar and sheilds DON'T regenerate!
    He can use vehicles.

The other Rebel Alliance player is Luke Skywalker (The VIP)
Luke is also in an orange jumpsuit, but enjoys 2x overshields!
He also starts with a lightsaber (sword) and plasma pistol.
Luke is a Jedi, therefore he can sense enemies around him (The force)
He also runs abit faster and does 150% damage and can operate vehicles.

    The Empire
There are two types of characters for the Empire.
    The stormtrooper
    [IMG]
Stormtroopers always come in popular white armour and start only with Plasma pistols.
They have no radar, no sheild recharge but had 10% leech ability.

    Darth Vader
    [IMG]
Darth Vader is in traditional black attire and enjoys greater shields than anyone.
He moves VERY quickly, does MASSIVE damage and has radar.
Whatever Stormtrooper gets the power-up first, becomes Vader.
There is always only ONE Dark lord of the the Sith, and his powers last for 90 seconds.

The gameplay is simple. All the Empire starts inside the DeathStar, and most will spend the entire round there. The rebels start (respawn) in the crypt, and teleport to one of three platforms up in the skybox (Where the Death star is). The rebels must reach two desitinations (vip checkpoints) for maximum points. The first is the control panel, to de-activate the stations sheilds. (Located top floor of the Death Star). After the Vip makes it there, he must return to the hanger and fly under the Death star and up the maintenence shaft till he reaches the power-core. (That's the second checkpoint.) Sure, you can just go for kills, but getting the checkpoints earns you 10 points EACH, so its well worth it.

Ok, I know that this Death Star MORE resembles the one used in the original Star Wars and NOT the one that was used in Return of the Jedi. I know that in the original Star Wars they didn't fly into the death star to blow it up. I'm certain somebody would've pointed that out! lol.
Also, this map took awhile, but it's still not perfect. There are a few rough spots (I'm making a sphere out of odd square pieces), and the very bottom of the sphere isn't perfectly round. I ran out of pieces, so it was either an interior or finish the bottom. I chose interior.

Epic! Us Star Wars nerds are going to love this! Imma try and get as many customs as I can on this. One question though. Is there a way to shoot down the rebels before they arrive on the Death Star?

Oh ya, for sure. The stormtroopers start with plasma pistols, then there's plasma cannons at some of the windows, there is also a fuel rod gun in the bottom floor of the Death star. There is also ONE banshee in the hangar of the Death star. My test games ended up a crazy mess in the Hangar. People kept flying into it and then getting out, but you end up with three vehicles in there and people dying everywhere. Anyways, I suggest IF you're a rebel, that you jump out and land on top of the death star, then work your way to the hangar! Less mess.

I havent watched the movies in a while, but wouldn't plasma rifles (not pistols) be the most fitting? If only you could place red ones ;)

Wow..... this looks pretty cool ;) The first pic blew me away. Althought the Death Star isn't perfectly round, it's still pretty damn awesome. Other than the fact that Vader could be a little hard to kill when going for the first checkpoint, it looks pretty balanced.

But one question though....; would it be fun with 2v2? Although I get more people a little more frequently, my normal amount of people is 4 (including me).

I can't wait to see if you'll remake it in Reach (Forerunner pieces = boring grey, Death Star in the movies = boring grey :D) ;)

I agree, and there are plasma rifles in the map. For some reason you can't start with them! :(
In the death star there is plasma rifles, 1x fuel rod gun, 1x carbine, 3 plasma cannons

LRMAN0989- 2v2 probably isn't enough people. It would work, but this is starwars, and it wouldn't look right if there wasn't a million stormtroopers running around! lol. It actually isn't that hard to kill Vader, but if the Empire plays smart defense, it is next to impossible to get to the control panel. But you still score points for kills, so even if the Stormtroopers are holding you back at the hanger, you can still just grab a hornet, hover and launch missiles into the Death star windows. Its REALLY important that the Empire get to their banshee and get it out there.

This looks like a very nice map. I hope the balance shows in the gameplay because if it does, then this will be an excellent game.

The one thing that would make this map better is if it were possible to shoot out of the concave Laser port with a spartan laser. Also maybe if the death star was a little more round. It shouldn't be to hard to just ghost merge a few more blocks around the top to give it more height and make it a little more spherical. Other than these two things, Awesome map!

He said he ran out of pieces.....

I see ;) I'll have to get a game in on this map + gametype when there's enough people on (6v6 would work, right? :p).

k guys... its NOT perfect. That's both the Death Star & Gametype. This isn't "Atlas" worthy, ready for matchmaking. This is simply a map for Star Wars nerds to mess around on. There is a few objects left to place, if somebody wanted to place additional weapons, ect.... It is fun, for a game or two, but in the end, it is what it is. For those of you who like it, cool. Hope you have fun playing around on it.

You know, a long time ago I had somebody on my friendslist request a death star map. I played around with it in the skybox and ran into a conclusion that the dementions of the ceiling cap won't give you a legitimate diameter to work with. You sir however have completely ignored that obstacle and went full speed ahead with the project! I scrapped the project, but have kept the two interconnecting rings on the middle level on my drive. This is a little squshed, but what the hell, it's a deathstar! Cleanly forged, inside and out. The actual firing ring is great! and who can say something bad about the giant screen! lol I can see Vader's face on it already! Very nice, can't say that I would play it over and over, but this awesome.
And hey, with the degree tool, snaps, and all the goodies, This would be awesome to rebuild in Reach.
I know im gonna rock the Forerunner shield world as soon as I can!

I had a ton of fun with this game. I just wish the death star was bigger other than that this was really fun. I hope you try to remake this on forgeworld when reach comes out because I had a blast with it. and the best part is if you make it on forge world the color of the pieces there look exactly like the death star so you can make it look perfect. and the ground kind of looks like endor form the last movie...you could make a really awesome game.

Looks very nice. The forging of the death star seems pretty amazing too. And I love how you have to get to a different part of the ship to get to the destinations. And great addition of the characters of DArth Vadar and Luke Skywalker.

I will give you a 8/10 becasue of the amazing detail of the gametype. And the forging is nice. It would be nice if it was bigger but that doesnt matter if you ran out of items. Its not ur fault. Great job ^_^
