I Thought that was just color and never respawn but its a kill zone I dunno how you would color it? If that means we can have kill zones for certain teams only :O!!
I have a question. Now that soft kill zones are objects instead of safe zones, what would happen if someone used some mean as fusion coil grenade warthog jump and got past it? Would they have breached your walls? Or should I say boxes!? And will we need 4 to completely box off a map?
You can make them extremely high. And I suppose you would need around four to. Which kinda sucks. Edit: I see what you mean now.. Hmm, interesting. You could put a death barrier behind it.
Ummm, well, If I read that correctly, no. It's not a 'kill-line' it's a 'kill-everything-that-is-past-the-line' so regardless of if you get past it, you'll die. Doesn't matter if it's hard death or soft death. Also, no, to my knowledge you can make them into squares, or cylinders, and maybe more shapes.
I believe there are two types of "soft kill" objects: Soft Kill Barrier: If you place one of these, then anything INSIDE its marker will die after 10 seconds. Safe Zone: If you place one of these, then anything OUTSIDE of its marker will die after 10 seconds. So what you do is enclose the whole playable area of your map inside a safe zone, so that anyone way out of it is dead in 10 seconds, and then you place soft kill barriers in areas, that you don't want people to be in/on, that are inside the safe zone. Simple. Oh, and obviously you can use those "hard kill barriers", or whatever, to insta-fry people.
A tiny, tiny hardkill barrier would make for some interesting maps, like a train station with electrified rails... edit: im patenting that
i doubt it. they've consistently said in many videos and text that the soft barriers kill you if you are outside it for over 10 seconds. they most likely wouldve mentioned that you could change it if it was possible to do so.
They also have consistently said that evade is elite exclusive and sprint is spartan exclusive, we know how that's turned out. At this point, I wouldn't rule anything out, however, I don't think we'll be able to change the time either, but we can't say for sure that we can't.
Actually they never said that people(not me )just assumed that because in matchmaking in the beta only elites could use Evade and only Spartans could use Armor lock. (just in case, Elites can be made to have the same Traits as Spartans its just there default or Match Making Traits are stronger to balance there bigger size(From what I've read so far.) And I HIGHLY doubt that the 10seconds will be customizable because it's not meant to be part of the level(No doubt people will use it that way though) its just meant to cut of the huge ForgeWorld map so people don't go all over the place. Example: you make a awesome map something like Blackout on one part of the map people want to play a infinity jet pack game type. with barriers they cant leave, without them free to go anywhere in forgeworld. Not meant to be used as electrical train tracks but still doesn't stop us doing it just unlikely Bungie will give us tools for it. (Very nice idea though) varying the time isn't that necessary as well. But still Never rule out anything of whats possible in Reach!
This. Is exactly why I'm planning a multitude of minigame madness (alitartion FTW) But this thread is about forgeworld itself, not the ideas we have for it! Q: Because of the category grouping, is there a limit to each item aswell? Ie; if we have 10 wall objects, per say; Am I allowed to place 10 Huge walls? Or is there still a sub limit, Ie; 10 wall objects, 2 huge walls, 2 large walls, 2 normal walls, etc. [sup]All object limits are made up [/sup]
In each category, you can place X amount of pieces, regardless of the combination you choose. If halo 3 had this: wall limit: 50 wall double wall corner wall wall slit half wall quarter wall You could place 50 double walls if you wanted, then however, you couldn't place any of the others.
i actually dont recall them ever saying that. but even if they did, that doesnt really have anything to do with my point. i was saying that they seemed to be showing off the details of other stuff like that, so when they say 10 seconds and never say anything about customizing it, id be willing to bet a good amount of money that there is no death time customization. like when people say they think bungie left out some other big stuff about forgeworld, such as whole new areas (idk), what reason would they possibly have for leaving that out at this point? its just not likely. btw im not trying to argue with you, as you said it probably wont happen but we cant say for sure, im just trying to further explain my reasoning.
At this time I can't recall the exact forge world demo video, but I remember seeing the Armor Ability menu. Evade and Sprint were both available, meaning they're both place able. I imagine that if you're a spartan you could pick up the evade AA. Still this is my speculation, not official. I'm also certain that when they said the AA were exclusive to that race, I think they meant in matchmaking of course.
I can see bungie hiding some parts of forgeworld. Think about it, there needs to be some secrets for the release. If the just showed the entire game ( ok this is a complete exaggeration) then they would probably lose a lot of opening day customers. I'm not saying bungie is hiding large parts of forgeworld, but I am saying that bungie definitely has some large tricks hidden up its sleeve for the final release
I dont think so, forgeworld is exactly what everybody that wants to forge could ever want. The only things I could see Bungie hiding from us are objects.

Yes i agree with you, they are hiding something,it might not be an area but they are Definatly hiding SOMTHING!
