I really like the new Reach skin that Miraj designed, and I thought it would be cool to try and make a light version of the same skin. I reccomend trying a different picture on the sides. In your version it is just a faded version of what we already have, and it looks like that is exactly what you did. It probably needs more color in the top banner and the sides. Other than that i like it better than what i already got, this one is too dark
I really liked Miraj's original design, so I tried to keep the design similar to his, changing the colors more than anything else. I will try switching the sides to see if it looks better, though.
I like it, but I feel it needs a different background as well. Also, the banner image is just... bleh. Other then that, I really like the colour scheme.
I like the little monitor silhouette, the text, is ... okay, but I just dislike the spartan image all together really.
Agreed with Nox. Also, can you move the navigation bar (with the forum rules, FAQ, members list, etc...) down below the banner for nubz like me if possible? I dislike it at the top
I changed the sides (edited into OP), but haven't found a good screenshot to use in the banner yet. I am hoping that today's Halo announcements pertain to Forge, so that there will be some nice Reach Forge screenshots that could work.
I like the position of the Home and Forum buttons above the profile box, I actually think it'd be a good answer to the current debates about those buttons on the Reach Dark theme as well tbh. Though I think they still look a little out of place, partly because their combined width isn't as much as the profile box below them, imo it'd look better if it was. And also I think they'd fit in more if there was no gap between the bottom of the buttons and the top of the profile box, so they looked more like tabs extending out of it than buttons floating above it. Good look though, I really like it. The only thing which I think stands out against the clean, simple look is the monitor image next to each board, though maybe it'll look more natural when there's a more detailed banner (based on what you said about looking for Forge images in today's info release).
I like v2 better, it has better depth. It needs a banner though. Don't go crazy with the banner though, try to keep it simple. If this turns out good, I would use it. I like light skins.
I put up 2 new versions, both with a full header, one restyled in light of the new news about Forge World.
Thats a pretty sick banner. I am stuck between which has a better background though! Argh........ I wish i could use this right now btw. Actually a couple of days ago would have been nice as well.
OMGTHISISAWESOMEWOWWWWWWWWW It's honestly hard to pic between v3 and the ForgeWorld Variation, but I feel that I am leaning towards the ForgeWorld variation more for the reason that it just feels more...natural. I love it, my good man. Good job.
Nothing huge going for it really, the background images are bland and way too pastel in appearance, it's fh light not white.
Well... the whole idea is that the skin is light, and having strong colors really detracts from that. My goal was to have a very simple, clean interface that was easy to read and look at for long periods of time. Every element on the page has between a brightness (HSB) of 75-95 except for the text, so it is easy to read. That said, I can try adding some more colorful elements, but I am inclined to keep it simple.
Aww you got rid of the home and forums buttons, I thought you were on to something with their placement above the profile box.
I'm reaaaaly liking the forge world version. THo, i think it's colors should be more in tune with forgehub. Light theme =/= white.
I posted a new version with much more intense color (but I am still trying to keep it really clean and "Web 2.0"). The banner has been updated, and the buttons have been added back above the profile box. The side bars have been swapped for nicer ones, though they look a little bit less interesting than the old ones IMO.
