    MAP DOWNLOAD

Update: Above Link now takes you to the version 1.3 map. Update includes the placement of Respawn Areas for all Gametypes. Enjoy. :)

There are plenty more pictures where that came from. 20 pics in all (this is going to be a long post).

Finale is a map that has taken me plenty of time and effort to build. The initial idea for this map was a last-minute inspiration I had on a different map: the center building of Complex. Finale originally started as an attempt to expand upon that idea. In trying to think of what to do with the rest of the map, I decided to work with the same idea that Bungie’s Rat’s Nest (default) was made with- a mix of both ground and vehicular combat. You’ll undoubtedly find that the map is pretty much smooth and seamless, and plays without a hitch.

Finale is a symmetrical team-based map that makes hefty using of interlocking and floating techniques. Teams spawn in opposite corners of the map, and are provided with a Ghost, Mongoose, and Warthog. A Brute Shot, Power Drain, and Spartan Laser are available for defense against enemy vehicles. Objectives spawn behind the vehicles, in the open. Defended them will provide plenty of challenge, especially considering the close proximity of the enemy base. Players preferring to attack on foot will find the center structure a more than adequate. The building can be accessed from the top and the bottom. The structures bottom and middle floors are separated into two areas inaccessible except by a different floor or other vector.

This map supports all gametypes, however, I would urge against playing neutral bomb on this map, as I never really did find a good neutral place to put it. Recommended gametypes include One-Flag, Assault, Team Slayer, Land Grab, and Multi-Flag.

Here is the diagram I drew for this map. Its admittedly crude, but I spent a very long time making it- and it serves to give one a very good idea of how the map is set up. Enjoy.

    Weapons on Map:
    Assault Rifle x2
    Battle Rifle x2
    Brute Shot x2
    Carbine x2
    Mauler x2
    Needler x2
    SMG x2
    Sniper Rifle x2
    Spartan Laser x2
    Turret x2

    Equipment on Map

    Plasma Grenade x2
    Spike Grenade x2
    Bubble Shield x2
    Power Drain x2

To take full advantage of the map, I would suggest playing with a minimum of 6 players (3 per team) when playing on it. I myself was able to gather a group of six players- but that was on an earlier build. The map has changed significantly since then. Version 1.0 of this map actually didn’t have the ramps on the opposing sides of the bases; this addition was suggested by Weremidget when we were previewing the map- so proper credit has been given for that.

Here is a view from the attacking side of Base A. You can also see the aforementioned ramp that Weremidget suggested.

As you can likely guess from the images, creating this map was a very painstaking process. Here are the pictures I promised.

The Spartan Laser is set to respawn at 90 seconds. Isn't she a beauty?

Here is a good view of one of the Bases.

This is the bottom floor. The Needler has 1 spare clip. I really like the angled wall here, it gives the map a nice polish.

Here is a view of the middle floor. Do watch out for enemy fire from uptop. Also, there is a fusion coil and a barrel beneath the camera- I couldn't get that in the shot.

    Vehicles....

Here is the top floor. It can be accessed from the middle floor and from the street of both sides.

    The Sniper. Lovely.

If you find yourself caught in enemy fire- make some cover.

    Turrets....

    Going downstairs?

Yes, the top floor did take a LONG time to make.

I like to make my maps virtually escape-proof. Unfortunately, it never works. If you do escape, I've provided you with mancannons to get you back into the action. Thank me later. And no, there is nothing else to see outside of the map.

Good strategy for the top floor.... look down before someone else looks up.

This tunnel will take you straight up to the top floor of the building. A mauler is provided on the way for close-encounters.

Yes, I'm proud of the aesthetic quality of the map. Take this Battle Rifle here for example, I could have just lain it one the platform- but no.

Ah, the flagspawn. You see, again, I could have just put it on the ground- but no. I like it this way.

The opposing flag is set the same way.

Any feedback will be appreciated. Please do rate both the map and this forum. Also, any experiences you have on this map will be welcome too. I've wanted to play on this map myself, but getting together parties is hard.

Lastly, there is a single soccer ball hidden somewhere on the map. It cannot be reached in a normal game- but it can be seen. If you find it, submit a picture in a reply message (no forge). And yes there is a prize: the enjoyment you get from searching….

Looks really nice, sir. I am a sucker for good vehicle-supported maps on Foundry, so I'll be playing this one soon. I'll come back later with my thoughts.

looks good. Added to my list of maps to DL'd when i get home. love WELL made vehicle maps for foundry. and this seems to go above and beyond by the pics. any chance for an overview of the top floor to see how much maneuvering room you got for vehicles?

You can take the ghost and mongoose inside, but I don't know why anyone would want to. There's not that much room inside, surely you'd be boarded pretty quick.

Oddly enough, I haven't seen any good use of vehicles on foundry. I thought it would be a good idea, though sometimes I still doubt the warthog being overpowering.

Looks great. Vehicles support will be minimal on a map with this many items placed. Good job though. Lots of work ='s lots of fun!

Over a month, but I was also really busy with school. I'd say a solid 35-40 hours at the least.

In a single word, this map is 'Tight'. It's very well made, that's what stands out the most about it for me. The construct in the centre just amazes me every time I walk through it. It's so clean and smooth, as well as creative and thoughtful.

Excellent map LynnJynh, and very in-depth first post. Great job!

Yay!! Weremidget respones. Thank you- the center building was kind of the main idea. It took me a long time to get it right. Actually though, this isn't my first post. I've published two other maps. Complex is linked from my signature.

    Thanks.

BTW- has anyone found my hidden soccer ball? I suppose you don't have to give me a picture, I'll settle for its location.

Anyone had any good games on this map?

I'm mighty impressed by your interlocking skills on this map :)

Your little overview of the whole thing is excellent too, you can tell you put a lot of effort into it. You say its crude, but that doesn't overshadow the fact that 99% of people who post maps don't put anywhere near that amount of effort into the post, never mind the map itself.

So i'm going to download this and have a look :)

Thank you very much for your comments. I spent quite a bit of time making this map, and was impressed by how it all turned out. I say the floorplan picture is crude because it isn't entirely accurate according to size and distance and such- but for a basic overview, it works excellent. I'm glad everyone likes that part.
