This is the second time I've used Illustrator in my life, the first being this avatar. Took me a couple days, there are a bit over a hundred paths I believe. Anyways, I took off half of the spartan because doing the entire thing would take a lot of work and I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow. I kind of like how it turned out overall so I decided to turn it into a really quick signature with little editing.

If someone wants to make a nice signature for me(better than the quick one I made) out of this that'd be fantastic. Some CnC would be appreciated too, I'm still learning Illustrator :)

    I have two questions:
    1. Did you draw the regions, use the pen tool, or LiveTrace the stock?
    2. If you did not use LiveTrace, have you tried LiveTracing and LivePainting? It does the same thing but takes just a few seconds, and gives you much more flexibility with the finished product.

I used the pen tool (did everything manually I mean, most of the stuff you're saying I don't even understand :p), this is more a practice to get better than anything.

Ah, I see. You did a really good job with the pen tool. Nice work.

LiveTrace takes an image that you open with Illustrator and converts the entire thing to a series of paths based on parameters that you set. When you LiveTrace the image, you get a series of paths that you can then play around with as much as you want, but instead of tracing everything by hand, it does it for you.

Try taking a different Halo screenshot that you like, copy and paste it into Illustrator, select it and hit the button at the top that says "LiveTrace." You can edit any of the settings so that the result is to your liking, and then click the Ok button (Note: Previewing is pretty CPU intensive, so it can take a while to preview your settings). If you are happy with the results, right click on the Traced image and hit expand. You should be left with anywhere from a few dozen to a few thousand paths, depending on the settings. Then you can modify the paths just as you would with any other paths. LiveTrace is a great feature that saves hours of time, so it is good to play around with it and use it.

That's real nice. I use illustrator regularly and have to say something like that is very time consuming, but I do think you could replicate the same style in 20 mins with live trace. It wouldn't do the gradients but you could add them (that would be the longest thing to do). I would try using live trace and watching some tutorials :p

I have seen that It is very hard to drawn using the pen tool. I have tried it more. But I can not get as same as You have drawn. I hope that I will get best grip over it.

I am not crazy about anime to begin with but I like to know about it that is why I have gain some knowledge about it. I like the lighting and how it darkens around the curves. Try taking a different Halo screenshot that you like, copy and paste it into Illustrator, select it and hit the button at the top that says LiveTrace. I use illustrator regularly and have to say something like that is very time consuming, but I do think you could replicate the same style in 20 mins with live trace.
