I agree with you but A is wrong. They did say that at first but then urk corrected them and said MOST maps are based on campaign designs.
Personally, I don't think this map was created using Forge, but I'm not sure that when people are saying it's forged/not forged that we're all thinking the same thing. Do you mean that this entire map, with its terrain and skybox and all were created with forge or are we just saying that a few elements of the map such as the bases and trees/rocks and water are placed using Forge? Bungie would never give Forge that much power. Even if they did somehow, I'm pretty sure we would only get good maps from Forge experts. The Forge we have now sets a lot of limits, but they're helpful in that we already have predetermined boundaries and building blocks. Without any of that, we'd just be left floating in oblivion without anywhere to begin. This may be kinda off topic but I've been wanting to say that.
Most don't think the whole map is, it's obvious the cliffes etc are not, but I see why people think the bases and rocks etc may have been forged.
B3NW is right, not all the maps will be based on campaign areas. There's a chance "Reflection" is the Blood Gulch remake. I'm not sure where the "central hall" would be, but the map being "ensconced around a space you’re already intimately familiar with" makes sense.
Agreed, however, after spending the best part of an hour reading through everyones points, I think the chess picture thing that someone pointed out is rather likely, as the large pillars behind the chess board (blue, forerunner looking) are also seen in a different picture where someone says look at the spectacular view or something.. you can see in the top left corner a blue forerunner pillar. So it's possible, the chess board is this "Central Hall" in the invasion gametype. As you can't really decipher where this is in the map, but the hills look fully accessible.
I believe central hall is just out of view in Deja View at 4min.45sec. That structure in the backround that looks like a forerunner, you can sort of see that the top of it is flat, based off of a single frame in the video. Then in the April Fools video at 1min.52sec. it shows that there is a flat area outside of the hangar and I saw trees as well which fits in just right with Blood Gulch
Wait a minute, what? We have no idea what knee guards that Spartan's wearing from that view, and by extension what color they are. I'm not trying to strongly support my ideas or anything, just throwing out suggestions. A possible reason that Grif/Simmon's knee guards were that grayish color as opposed to regular white is that the knee guards are darker by default, but can still have a color imposed on them. For example, say you chose pink armor detail, which turns the knees pink--however, because the knee guards are darker, it would be more of a faded magenta or something. Just tossing out ideas here.
he was pointing out the fact that you could change your visor color so why not your knee guard color. I think that's a special case and your knee guard will be like your regular armor. A skittle colored spartan would be awesome tho!!
Oh, alright. Thanks for clearing that up. I think the main problem with that is that visors can't really be altered that much beyond their appearances (though it's not like anyone would say no to having Kamina's glasses as a visor), while knee guards could.
So I'm hoping we've reached a consensus on what this video shows: A very large, empty map, in which one corner a canyon has been modeled that mimics the contours of Blood Gulch and Coag; this is just the one small part of a map that stretches at least a half kilometre to where the tank is firing. Whether or not we can get up to the Forerunner base remains to be seen, but the obvious pathway leading up to it suggests that we can. The Forged objects in this map become quite obvious after several viewings: the bases, which have no shadowing and very abrupt transitions with the surrounding turf; the rocks in the Hologram scene are very out of place and again, have no transition with the ground, indicating very strongly that they've been merged (effortlessly) with the terrain. Also, the water pool that they stand in is very low-fidelity, and the grass below it is the very same as the surrounding field. This is not something that Bungie environmental artists would miss, leading us to believe that there are Forgeable water objects. I have no idea how this would work, but it seems very plain that that is the case. Rounding out the Forged objects we can see is the large wall that blocks off the canyon from the rest of the map, that can be seen missing in the first "Wait till you see what's outside the canyon" scene. This is probably not a coincidence; Rooster Teeth is adept at visual storytelling, and probably enjoyed weaving reveals into this video. This video leads us to the conclusion that this is a giant canvas-style map, complete with all the tools you need to make a Blood Gulch; however, there is an amazing amount of potential to Forge the rest of this map, even with the tools and objects we have seen so far. Once we see the entire palette (which should be quite large, given the upgrades to the graphics engine that Reach development has brought about), we will have an almost infinite number of possibilities, given the varying terrain and nuance available. Once you've Forged your map, set the return-to-battlefield volume (much like a respawn zone or Hill volume) and you have your level. We know based on Zugzwang Evolved that Forge is most likely an object-based, monitor controlled editing system, just like Halo 3. However, with the advent of effortless geo-merging combined with a massive, visually striking canvas, and a large amount of appealing Forerunner and natural objects to work with, we will be able to create an incredible amount of amazing content.
I've just been told by a friend of a friend that the "great hall" is through the doorway in the forerunner structure you see and is just a forgeable area like the crypt except the walls are flat and are given forerunner textures. The levitating globe is just a removable item hovering in the centre of the room. The item list apparently 3 times bigger than Sandbox's and you have addtional features like Lighting and Environmental items So a lot of indoor maps can be made with cool special effects!!!
I've just been told by a friend of a friend that we also could add bots, water, grass, sand, metal and pancakes, also there is a object limit bug now! If you do it right, you can place 100 less object than you could on guardian! Also, you won't place your spawnpoints yourself, before you can put a map in your fileshare you have to send it to bungie, they will test it and place all the 100 spawnpoints for you. I hope he isn't lying! Do you really believe this? I mean, as far as I know, no information regarding forge has been released.
Also there was a red detail strip on his leg. I don't know where you got those facts that those objects are forgeable, But if its just what your hoping I also hope for as much forging as possible. But I know for a fact the teleporters where forged and not the default teleporters for that map. So who knows what else they forged.
I figured it out from scouring B.net and GAF, and putting together the best info I could find there, and then what I know about Forge and game design in general. It just makes sense considering where they started from with H3 Forge, and just looking at the objects themselves and the way they're juxtaposed with their environment, there's obviously something not right there. It's not an early build either, because all the other lighting has been baked in on the non-Forgeable rocks and trees and stuff. Oh, and for the people that are wondering if this is Reflection, there was some code found in the beta that referenced Ivory Tower directly. I wouldn't be surprised to see that remake as well. edit: this is the code that was found: aftship ivorytower launchstation panoptical spire forge_arena forge_ascension forge_badlands forge_gulch forge_sanctuary forge_island
Honestly, unless there is some foolproof evidence of this, I don't believe it. While those would be amazing features for Forge, they're also amazingly radical to say without proof. I want these to be true, I just have a hard time believing it.
