The Umbra is what I call the product of my playing around in Forge, attempting to create my own Covenant-style vehicle. The original intention was to create a bulkier version of the Shadow. However, it ended up looking like a Covenant Elephant, complete with three first-person plasma cannons. Bungie.net : Halo 3 File Details
Hey, I know this name! Oblivion right? Anyway, it certainly looks interesting. Fairly small though. You should try building a map and incorporating it into it. It's kind of plain by itself. Still nicely forged though. 4/5
Actually, no, I have not played Oblivion. Umbra is the name for the darkest part of a shadow. And since this was intended to be a bulkier version of the Shadow, the name seemed fitting. Also, I do not plan on building a playable map based upon this, as this is a purely aesthetic map which exists for the sole purpose of showcasing my creation and nothing more.
This could possibly work along the Asset gametype? Add a few more structures, battlefield cover and you're set to go!
I read up on it. I suppose it's possible, but I can't see why someone would try to make this into a map for playing Asset on.
Fine, if the idea of Asset doesn't suit your theoretical little head there, then maybe construct a UNSC base on the other side of the map, give it a Casual but Competitive feel to it and voila, a Bi-Base map with a twist. The bases would obviously differ slightly, but balancing shouldn't be too difficult. I'll definitely help out if this idea works with you
By that, do you mean it resembles something from Oblivion or is it simply in the name? I assure you -- I've never played Oblivion. The only influences for this came from Halo.
No,your not the only one. This is a very original idea and looks like it would be an interesting vehicle to drive. To bad we can't make immovable objects move. One question, though, how much budget did it take up?
Okay peeps, the "Oblivion" item actually came from a previous Elder Scrolls game; a much better one in fact. It was an evil sword that controlled peoples minds and used them to kill, and it ate the souls of the people who it killed. Since it is the most evil of the evil, the character who weilded it was named 'Umbra,' which is a reference to the darkest part of a shadow, the evilest evil. And so then the blade was so named as well. Umbra is a totally seperate word. Now that this is cleared up, this looks just like a bunch of walls, man cannons, and a couple ramps? It also seems very similar to the shadow that it was based off, to the point where it almost should have been called shadow for its accuracy. Actually, im just annoyed because you stole my map title ;D
It looks like its forged well but it also looks very boring. Make more of them or something that surrounds it.
