Personally, i find it really tacky when weapons are placed floating against walls... It really bugs me because it is so impossible and it doesnt look good for the most part. IMO, weapons should be leaning up against something and look like they were placed there by a human, not a fairy with magical powers
I kindof agree with Death, and I kind of do not. It does looks nice, do not get wrong, but it doesn't seem slike somethign that is really necessary when you could have made it simiple for yourself. That map design so far looks really neat so nice job on that.
An opinionated comment (as you stated yourself) that lacks any bit a of constructive feedback towards the forge at hand. In the OP one of the pics labeled "Forerunner inspired architecture" or something of that sort, well with that it's plenty fair to have weapons held to the wall especially a power weapon which is meant to be on display. edit; Forging is meant to hold some bit of artistry and the main goal in crafting anything is to have it appeal to oneself not what EVERYONE else thinks looks good.
It's not on a wall. It's on the sticking out part on a fin, which in my opinion, it looks pretty cool
Couldn't have said it better. I personally think that the sniper looks fantastic, and not just in that scenario, to me really any weapon being held up through something just shows that the creator cared enough to give it some extra time for aesthetic purposes. Off that note, everything looks very cleanly forged, and I understand that can be tricky when it comes to double walls. However, the ramp in the last picture can easily be made from one item and not however many the current one uses. Oh, and needz moar cleavage.
Placing weapons on the wall is not only a waste of a perfectly good weapon holder, it is visually a distraction and a waste of time while forging. Also there is a large chance that one of the times the weapon spawns that it will not be correctly oriented. Third, because of the weapon holder the sniper will constantly be moving and it is possible if it gets missed on the first spawn that it will double spawn, and some lucky person will get a sniper with double the ammo. I highly reccomend that you place the weapon normally for time saving techniques, aesthetic reasons, and gameplay issues. This however, i agree with 100%. Art is yours, nobody elses.
I was gonna use ramps (if that is the object you are implying) but then i realized that they were too long, and I wanted to replicate the ramp on citadel @Yoyo: I think that using the fin piece is waaaaay more aesthetically pleasing than just a sniper leaning on a wall, but I understand what you mean
Cart, its true that it looks pretty BA and makes the sniper more noticible and rememberable, but i am an MLG player at heart so i build for the same effect, and that system just has too many distractions for a competitive game in my opinion, and there are also very real consequences to using it. But as D4N said, its all about what you think works best in your art. So if you like it, keep it.
Is this an MLG map? Probably not. Let him hang it on the wall. It actually looks pretty awesome for once. ODST style.
I like the sniper, don't change it unless you have to drop spawn it. I think the Map has portential, I hope there are some open sections as well, if there are any, the only problem I see so far is that there isn't enough Cleavage.
Okay cart, the presentation of that Splazer is outstanding, ill give you that. You need to make a conquest map next. But, a spartan lazer on a doubles map... Lets hope this supports up to four people like Construct, otherwise the splazer wont get used enough/it will get spammed like a mofo. Try a sentinal laser, those are fun!
I knew someone would say that. I kinda put the laser there for a placeholder, so don't get too worried
I would be having sex with this map but its cleavage is less then extraordinary. Im sorry. OT: Haha I really like this. I have always been a fan of small maps and such. This looks really good so far.
That's what I actually thought when I first saw the pic as well. Looks like an ODST weapon rack thingy (also seen in Reach). I tend to steer away from that usually, but it looks real nice here. Either way, its a damn aesthetic and really plays a negligible role in how the map ultimately plays, so in short- do what ya want. Looks good so far.
