Ladies and Gentlemen, Spartans and Elites, and those who are somewhere in-between...Prepare yourselves. At one time, you probably thought you'd played the most adrenaline-packed gametype of your entire lives. You probably thought "It couldn't possibly get better than this!". Well, Lady Elites and GentleSpartans....It's time to prove you dead wrong.

If you think you've played the craziest, grittiest, most intense, action-packed big-team game in the whole world...

    You haven't.

    Welcome, friends...

Yes, BattleFlags! Quite possibly the most chaotic, mind-blowingly awesome gametype you'll ever play, BattleFlags is an action-packed big-team game built for one thing and one thing only: FUN. And that is just what this game is, folks. The concept is simple, and the gameplay is phenomenal. Provided, of course, you have enough players...

I know by now you're probably salivating all over your keyboards, sorry. So go get a rag and we'll get started!

    The Basics

Okay, so BattleFlags is actually a very, very simple game. You start at your base with the enemy's flag, and you have to get it ALL the way across the map and score it. The goal is to rack up as many points as you can in the round before time runs out, and the second round starts. But don't get caught up in your capturing! You have a point to defend also!

It's a gigantic reverse multi-flag game, basically. But you know me...There is ALWAYS more to it than that.

First of all, the basic player traits and setup is a little wonky. You're running around at increased speed. It's not crazy-fast, but you'll notice a speed boost. On top of your starting Assault Rifle, you're also equipped with your own personal Energy Sword. Cool, huh? Well, it gets better.

On top of these wonderful boosts to your personal power, the armaments you'll find strewn around the map are of the highest caliber of destructive power. You'll find vehicles galore, accompanied by a plethora of rifles and power weapons. Rockets, Banshees Missile Pods, Tanks, Brute Shots; You name it, it's there.

Except for Spartan Lasers. You'll find no buzzkill lasers here. I WANT you to have fun in vehicles!

"BUT WAIT TIME GLITCH! IF EVERYONE HAS POWER WEAPONS AND VEHICLES, WON'T IT JUST BE A MASSIVE **** OF AMAZING EXPLOSIONS AND CARNAGE?!?! HOW WILL I SURVIVE AS THE FLAG CARRIER!?!?!?"

Well, concerned reader, allow me to explain.

    The Flag Carrier

    There's a reason I called it "Battle"Flags.

The Flag Carrier is a sight to behold. Shining white armor...Shining Gold-Laden Flag...Flapping...Anyways, the Flag Carrier is significantly beefed up from your typical infantryman. You'll find he takes quite a few shots to take down, and more than one hit from your sword. This power comes with a price, though. You cannot enter vehicles (Even side seats), and you are slower than your comrades. But be wary...The Flag Carrier is a force to be contended with in close-quarters. One melee from this bad boy will put you in your place...(You'll be dead)

    UNLESS!

YOU are the other Flag Carrier!

Oh yes, my friends. Flag Carriers can each take two hits from each other before they go down. In fact, one of the best ways to combat a Flag Carrier...Is with another Flag Carrier!

So we all get it now? BattleFlags? Eh?

    Okay...

It's important to note that while these guys may seem really tough, once you take them down, the flags are set on touch-return. Take down the carrier, and back to the base the flag goes. Time to start over.

This little mechanic ensures that if you want to score a point, you gotta do it in a single run. No "OH I GOT IT HALF WAY YAAAAY!". No. That's the ***** way out. In BattleFlags, it's all or nothing. You take up your standard and you brave the chaos and destruction to SCORE THAT POINT...Whatever the cost.

Then you get to do it all over again.

    The Fun

Well, this is technically just the part where I tell you how awesome this gametype really is. It plays out kinda like a gigantic, crazy, balls-to-the-wall version of Grifball. You're constantly struggling to get your flag across the map, trying as hard as you can to fight through the destruction with your own weapons or vehicles of explodey awesomeness.

Speaking of vehicles, this game is VERY vehicle-heavy. ALL vehicles and weapons respawn every 30 seconds, ensuring that there will almost always be a ride or a weapon ready for you when you spawn. This keeps the vehicle combat at a constant. But don't worry, there are plenty of anti-vehicle weapons on every map. However, I'll state again...There are NO Spartan Lasers. I consider them to pretty much ruin vehicle combat, and their absence is not missed. It's so much more fun to be in a vehicle and not have to worry about a laser of death!

Your anti-vehicle weapons include Rockets, Missile Pods, Brute Shots, and Trip Mines. Again, all of which spawn every 30 seconds. If you have someone up in your grill, grab one of these and you should be good to go. Or you know...Get a big vehicle of your own to go take them out...

But don't worry Infantry fans. There's plenty of fun man-on-man action in there for ya...

    That sounded weird...

    ...

    Concluding Notes and Download

Okay, so in accordance with the June Forgery Challenge rules, this game has three compatible maps for it. They're fairly basic. To be honest, the beauty of this game is that it doesn't need a really complicated map to be good. In each thread, you'll find a download link and some pictures of each map.

    Poppyseed Fields
    BigTree Canyon
    Gritty Doldrums

I hope you guys have a TON of fun playing this. I know we did when we were testing this. Also, the bigger the better. I'd recommend at least 10 people in your party to play this. I keep saying "Big-Team game" for a reason. It doesn't really flow or work very well with anything less than that.

Anyway, I'll stop babbling! Here is the gametype link:

    Thanks so much for reading!

Yeah, I'll take an invite if you're hosting a lobby as well, just to see if I like it. However, I don't think I will, just cause I seem to really hate heavy maps. It's way to easy to camp. In matchmaking these maps all get camped way too easily. Have you done anything to prevent that..? I mean, it's a little better because it's a one way flag run, but it still seems really camp-able if you have a good team. Nonetheless, it's seems like decent idea. I know people have had this idea before, but I'm glad someone finalized it. You should also add a custom power-up that does something as well.

Trust me, there is NO camping problem on this game =)

It's multi-flag, so there is no real offense/defense. It's just kinda go with the flow.

Trust me, it's a lot more fun than it sounds on paper. In actuality, it's the ****.

IF you don't trust the creator I can personally state the issue of camping is not a problem with the map. The map is intended for large parties as well the gametypes. If your playing 4 v 4 you will have much more of a shorter enjoyment then playing 8 v8. I was lucky enough to get a few tests on this before it was released.

The most unique points I enjoyed was that the flag carrier is forced to take the flag all the way. Often in CTF there is a double rush one man making half way then the second wave of rush scores it, with the rule set the flag auto returns instantly. This forces team work in large combat situations. The most iconic situation is there is literally an armor column moving with the flag. (2 Hogs and a 1 tank) The same goes with 4 banshees in the air can really play with how every on needs to protect this flag carrier because the barrier of the flag has to score it.

Defiantly a mix up of your usual Big team games but equally competitive and fun, I would recommend it to any of my friends.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, it gets pretty epic when a team decides to work together with vehicles =P.

Man...Sure isn't as much activity in the Casual section as there used to be...'Hub's changed...

Hey I think I know you from bungie.net (loadout specific traits and custom names threads)

Map looks good I do enjoy a good big team action game, Specially with alot vehicle warfare my favorite flavor :)

Just one question, Why Flags? The only reason I can think of is for aesthetics because they look awesome.

Well Bomb would have been an option, but I liked the look of flags better. It's pretty much aesthetics, and the decision at the time. No real reason.

Wow this looks SEXY! I could totally imagine having like a giant vehicle clash in the middle of the map. The reverse flag is pretty cool, and i like how you can do it over and over again. Also, I love how you're encouraging using vehicles by taking stuff like the spartan laser off. I can't think of much problems with the map other than spawn killing at a teams base I guess. That wouldn't be much fun for either team so I don't see why anyone would do it. If you ever need another player send me an invite GT: Trentzombee. Next step; making a giant custom map on sandbox utilizing those dark fields :D

Yeah, the Spartan Laser removal really kicks the vehicle carnage into overdrive. It's pretty much the buzzkill of vehicles. And spawn killing really isn't much of a problem, at all.
