The only complaint that I have is that my keyboard sensitivity seems to have gone a little haywire. I now need to push quite hard to hit some keys.
For the 3G inreally don't think it's worth the upgrade...It can't even support wallpapers, which I don't understand because you still get folders, which is way much more battery consuming than a wallpaper.. One problem that i noticed after the upgrade was that safari was kinda laggy, and not as smooth scrolling
Yeah it's possible. Downgrade iOS 4.0 to 3.1.3 iPhone Firmware | Gadgets DNA I think that guide will work, just google it if that doesn't. I got some time with the iPhone 4 yesterday. Definitely very snappy. I also noticed there was more animations when you opened/closed an app where the icons would like swoosh in and out, not sure if this was an 4.0 thing or a 4 but it was very fluid. Switching between backgrounded apps is also very nice, as is loading apps. My usual test is peggle, and between the 4 and the 3Gs you never even saw the "loading" screen on the 4 it was so quick. The camera is also very nice. I liked the flash, seemed very bright. It's kinda weird having a front facing camera (Hey I'm on TV!), but I can see the point. (So that's the dumb face I make when I use an iphone) The screen is really amazing. I tried looking to see if I could discern the pixels and you really can't. Once you get close enough to the point where you might have been able to, your eyes can't focus anymore. Also the increased resolution means everything just looks better. More shiny, better textures, etc. I also liked that pandora can now use music controls, I might have to start using it in my car since it'll work with my dock now. I can't wait to get mine to play with it, but having the time to get familiar with it really helped my desire to have it now. Overall it's definitely better than the 3Gs but still very much an iPhone through and through.
I saw on Gizmodo that there's been some signal issues when holding the 4 with your hand, with your hand touching the antenna on both sides. 20+ people have sent videos showing that there signal drops from 5 or 4 bars dropping to 1 or none when they're holding it.
Yeah I've heard about this as well. I'll have to test it, though it makes sense to me since you're interfering with the impedance. This might be reason enough for me to get a bumper.
Yeah I definitely don't recommend anybody with an iPod or a 3G to upgrade. The features aren't that great (personally I liked pages better than folders). Battery life went from being amazing to horrid. Unless you have a 3Gs or 4, don't bother the OS just comes with more negatives than positives.
Yeah I dunno. I was playing with her phone to see if I could recreate it, to no avail. I'm pretty sure it's only people with very conductive skin or something.
I'm on my iPhone 4 right now, and there are no yellow blotches like many seem to have. However, the 'holding in the left hand' thing does affect the signal. Despite this, I've heard that this also happens with iPhone 3Gs and 3GSs with iOS4, so it must be a Software Bug. I'll let you guys know what I think of the phone over time, but so far it's amazing. The screen is SO sharp!
its a weird software bug at that. but i do think it is one too. im on mine too, screen is sweet ass jesus christ moses.
Yeah, I held up my old 3G next to the iPhone 4 and the text is so much sharper, the old screen just looks like complete and utter **** in comparison.
For some reason, my ipod is not allowing me to change the background like this, anyone else having this problem? Also, for some reason all my photos are now blurry and are now a way lower resolution after updating to the ios4, any one having this problem too?
If you have an iPod touch 1g or 2g, that's why. Only the 3rd generation received homescreen backgrounds as well as multitasking
Well, that would make sense. I bought it as a 2g, but I updated to the 3g software, but like you say it's probably based off the original software...I dunno any one else having low quality blurry pictures now?
It's nothing to do with what Firmware you installed, it's about which generation of iPod Touch you have. Yours must be either the original iTouch or the second gen, as cart0graph said.
its been confirmed, os4 drops signal for lefties. my sim's been barred for 48hrs cos they sent me the wrong security code.
