So, a friend recently built me a computer that has dual monitor capabilities and i've been trying to set it up for a while. However, even with both plugged in, I can only get one to register. I thought my second monitor just wouldn't work but each monitor works if it is my primary one, it just won't register the second one for whatever reason. Does anyone know how to get around this or can provide links that can help me out. My graphics card is a GeForce 9800 GT It does mention on the box that it has "dual-link HDCP capable" and that it requres other compatible components that are HDCP capable.
Its probably something to do with the screen settings. Go to (try and think what it is on a pc, I have a mac...) display from the control panel and there should be some screen options. Play with the settings to see if you get the right one.
Just go to nVidia's website and download the latest driver. Simple. It'll come with dual monitor settings.
Very correct. Do that, and if your graphics card can't take it then get a different one or use one monitor.
Just plugging it in wont help. I don't know about nvidia but I know ATI has a driver system called catalyst, in which you can set-up additional screens. Just try update the drivers and looking through the settings. Otherwise get your money back for false advertising and get a new one
Thats not working, I've changed everything to do with screen settings and nothing worked Downloaded the latest driver (or at least my friend did. Maybe he did the wrong one) The card can take dual monitor. My friend uses the exact same one and has two monitors. I guess I'll go try and update the drivers again. Thanks all.
If that doesn't work, (Not sure if you did this, I know you've said you've played with the settings but maybe you haven't tried this) NOTE: ASSUMING YOU'RE RUNNING WINDOWS 7!!! Right-Click anywhere on desktop and go to Screen Resolution Click "Detect" Another "Display Preview Box" should come up, CLICK ON IT! From there, you can change the settings and everything VOILA! Your secondary monitor should be up and running.
I wish that worked but no matter where I plug any of the monitors into, it doesn't work. I did just download some updates to Direct X because before, I couldn't run a program called unity3d but now I can so maybe that was the problem.
Maybe he likes hi-res games, right clicking, 20 times as many programs and the like. On topic, my TV has been screwing up when connected with my laptop as well recently... Maybe you can download some program to do it?
LOL, programming on a mac would be ridiculously annoying. and you can't use the unity 3d because right clicking is a main way to manipulate the way you see everything. I found out that it is something wrong with direct x. It has something to do with updating the wrong drivers so my friend will come in and fix it. Thanks for the help though.
