When I EV train I use pokerus and the appropriate EV item, (power brace, etc.) I max out the EV's fairly quickly.

no pokerus for me wood, unless you can give it to me. So when I start just getting +3 for the rest of the time of leveling, does that mean its basically maxed out or is it just ****ing with me.

That's generally a tell tale sign but the only true way to know for sure is to keep track of the EVs from scratch, unless you have an AR in which case you can use it to see your pokemon's EVs and IVs.

Isn't there a lady in Blackthorn that will give you something if it is maxed, and if there is, do you know where she is?

it has to have all 500 and whatever EVs, not just maxed EVs in one stat. and shes in the house like up and to the right of the pokecenter i think. she gives the first pokemon in your party an effort ribbon if it has all possible EVs

i usually just look at how many moves ive used (assuming all one hit KOs) and then do the math of how many EVs i got for each kill. but if you go to the pokecenter that kinda messes up that strategy

yeah, and i've gotten them up about 20 levels already and I don't even know how many times I've been to the pokemon center. I guess I'll just stop when there are a steady of +3s in the state when I level up.

Does EV training work in yellow version, or did they add that in? I seriously can't remember and I would like to find out before I get too far into the game.

yes but it was different. each stat could be raised to its max potential by fighting pokemon. it was kind of like EVs, but different.
    copypasta:
The EV system was introduced in Generation I, where it was also called stat experience or Stat Exp.
The Pokémon data structure contains two EV bytes for each the five stats (HP, Attack, Defense, Speed and Special), starting at zero when caught and with a maximum EV of 65535 for each stat, however, maximum stats will be reached with only 64512 EVs. When a Pokémon is defeated, its base stats are converted to effort points and then added to the EVs. For example, defeating a Mew grants 100 effort points to each EV. (Defeating 646 Mew, therefore, will give a Pokémon maximum EVs in each stat.)
EVs are factored into the Pokémon's stats when it levels up. Additionally, EVs are calculated into stats when a Pokémon is taken from Bill's PC; this is called the box trick. A Pokémon which reaches level 100 can continue to accrue EVs up to the maximum of 65535 in each stat, and use the box trick to have those EVs factored in.
Vitamins add 2560 to one stat's EV, but cannot raise a stat above 25600. Unlike later games, the Exp. Share did not share EVs.
At level 100, the formula for determining the stat difference between a Pokémon trained in that stat and an untrained Pokémon is:

Is there some magical secret way to get substitute for breloom then get 2000 coins at the game corner?

Also, I went to move tutor my absol so it could learn superpower but that wasn't an option.

My Ampharos knows Power Gem, Thunderbolt, Signal Beam, and Rock Climb. I don't really use Rock Climb, but it'll learn Power Gem at level 59.

    I'm jealous... very jealous.
