Strategy maps?

    Has anyone ever made a large map, on sandbox, or something similar that allowed for large scale strategy?
    For example have a tactician on each team who can go into a box in the sky, where they watch the battle below and give orders to the troops, which would consist of equal amounts of vehicle and infantry divisions, Due to the limitations I know that you can't have too many on each side but you could at least get a small squad to fill the roles of artillery, infantry, and air-force.
    Make it so that the Tacticians decisions (If listened to) would have a major effect on whether or not a team won or a team lost as opposed to simple skill.
    Skill would certainly help, but if the best player in the world gets hit from a distance with a wraith shot because of the tactician spotting them and telling the artillery... well stuff happens.

    TL;DR

    Are their any maps that deal with semi-large scale tactics or strategy?

    I cant think of any off the top of my head, but I could be wrong.
    even if there are, that shouldnt stop you from making one.

    I think its a great idea!

    Thanks, But while I can forge things decently, I can't really make much on a large scale, while this certainly wouldn't be the sort of map for fancy forging it would need a bit of planning and such, which I can't really do.

    I'm personally not a fan of it, but try this one if you want. It's the only one I can think of on the spot.

    Personally, I don't think these kinds of maps can really be executed well on Halo 3.

    Seems interesting but not what I was going for, I meant like the two teams have limited resources, think more like chess than a RTS. you don't build new units in fact the only thing that(if i were to forge this) I might make respawn is weapons for ammo.

    That's kind of what the map I linked you to is. Did you read it at all or did you assume it was RTS-esque because the map name was "Halo Wars"? It's nothing like that.

    The problem with the map is that you can drop all the resources at one time.

    I skimmed, From what I understand you purchase people and weapons and vehicles by shooting objects, What I mean is the two sides start with a small base and all their equipment they could need, the tacticians start up in their box and watch,inform, and instruct that is all. it could be made more interactive for them by making floating airstrike pallets to shoot but...

    Anyway now that I've started thinking about it I think I might just try and make this.
