So I need to decide if I want to make this machinima in Reach or in Halo 3. both have their advantages, though the former is mainly that it hasnt been done well yet.
Yeah. What I have planned is nothing explicitly complicated. The premise itself is where all the novelty lies.
It's scripted up to a certain point, I just need to decide which I want to use then I can script the rest.
First off; I want to be in it (if you use actors). Second, shoot in the beta if you think you can get past the obvious limitations.
I'd use Halo 3, unless you're willing to wait for Reach to come out. The BETA you need to get a full party, and then get them to stand in one corner doing nothing while you film. Not the best way to do it.
Well, when I've had people in my party in the past, they generally behaved nicely. As for actors, I'll probably need voice actors, since I can't get my own voice down where I want it. Not to mention one other stand-in actor.
I could help you out there. Voice possibly, depending on what you need, but body acting I could. We actually did a walkthrough of Powerhouse. I'm just editing currently.
Ehhh. Asking for help with voice acting here might not be a great idea, I'd guess you don't want a character voiced by a 13-17 year old teenager.
Well, the title is "Meta-Machinima" if that's any indication about what's going on. It's essentially making the "camera" a character in the story. Which is hard to explain, but an example would be, everytime the camera cuts, it's teleporting. So if a character saw the camera, then it cut to another angle, the character would see the camera in the new area. As well as the narrator, and the characters can see subtitles popping onscreen and whatnot. In Halo 3, I'd literally have the camera be the monitor, and have him pop up here and there. In Reach, I'll haveta have it be camera POV entirely (which isn't really a problem considering every machinima is that way, but I'll haveta cut out a few gags)
It isn't exactly POV in the same sense that other machinimas have done it. It'll be shot like any other machinima, it's the context that makes it unique.
Example: Two guys are walking around. 1: What the **** is that? 2: What? 1: That thing, straight ahead, just floating there. ::camera cuts to their POV (not literally their POV but what they would see from their position) shows there is nothing there:: 2: I don't see anything. 1: AH **** IT'S RIGHT HERE. ::camera cuts again, back to the original position. The two players are looking at the gap between them:: 2: Uhhhh 1: Goddamnit, it's gone.
It doesn't just deal with the camera, but the narrator, the subtitles, censorship. I'm not sure what else yet. Should be short.
If you use the BETA you've got a three week time limit. Once it's all gone you won't be able to access the beta to get to your saved files.
