Regeneration Slayer (Official Release Thread)

    How might I go about making a map for this? I haven't played the gametype yet (I really wanna try it out) but I've got a couple maps I couldn't get to work right for standard gametypes what may work for RS.

    Ill give you the basics. Steve might give a bit more detail later.
    Your map needs to have some distinct central area. This is where either the hill or oddball will be depending on the gametype. There also needs to be 2 or more custom power ups located on the map. Most of the maps have 2 on either side and one at central back.
    The major thing that your map will require is making sure everyone dies at start. On sandbox this is simply achieved by sticking all the startingpoints inside a killball. If you are working on another map I can help you out with the starting points (I made a map foundry for this and I don't believe there are killballs on that map).

    Can I also add, you must have height around the hill. The hill should be on the floor and the floor should be centered. Unless your making a FFA map, it should be symetrical!

    Well one map is on Foundry, and the other is a High Ground map where everything but the inside of the base is blocked off. The High Ground one could be used for FFA, and the Foundry map is symmetrical so it could work with teams.

    The hill is unmoving, right? That's what it seems like, but I didn't see where it said one way or another.

    The hill doesnt move. If you need my help setting anything up my GT is crypocalypse.

    Hey Krazy, its nice to see your interested in the gametype..

    I'd recommend you download a few of the gametypes or maps and have a couple of games on them first to see which style you prefer, i.e closed / open or large / small etc...

    You should also look into playing in the regen customs or "Rustoms" as they were previously named.

    Put the gametype to a few of your friends and see if theyre interested in playing.. the more people the better ideally, but at the moment i cant play online so i couldnt hold a rustom this week :(

    Hey, sorry I haven't joined the Rustoms for a while, I've been busy with other things. However, the map I'm currently forging looks like it'd be very suited to Regen Slayer, so I'll let you know when it's ready for testing.

    Ooh, definitely. I'll be able to give you a pic Of red base to work with soon, but the map won't be finished for a while. It's probably going to be the best place to take a sig shot.

    Is this the map you showed me last night? It looks rather nice actually.. You'd need another way to reach the top platforms besides jumping though, but other than that its got a nice feel to it so far. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the rest of the map.

    Yeah, I'm gonna add grav lifts in the corners, so that you shoot out onto those platforms. I'm also thinking of redoing the central area, so that there's a better hill for Regen King. Do you think it would be better as a symmetrical or asymmetrical map?

    Tbh, i think the central pedestal would work pretty well, its rather isolated, theres good view of it from most of the map and its small so the hill on it would be pretty good. I think you should make a split right down the middle, with the empty space you have at the other side, do something slightly lower levelled and around the edges. Try to make safe spawn areas down there and in the corners beneath the high shelves.

    Hey guys wanna put all this on hold until the beta ends? I mean, that will naturally happen anyway but just so its not on mind.
    When we get back from our 6 week mountain due and hot pocket (too stereotypical?) filled run of the beta we'll continue from where we left off.

    fair enough.. ive lost all interest in gaming atm anyway..
    my lifes gone to **** recently so a 6 week breaks probably what i need anyway

    Probably will to you guys,
    I'm selling my xbox. My girlfriend broke up with me after 2 years the other day...
    Main reason isnt really known, she just didnt like that i put no effort in and would rather play xbox.
    I'm heartbroken to say the least, so I'm afraid the xbox has to go.

    I'll give B3NW the thread code over msn so it can be updated etc...

    I'll just need the videos quickly over the next week so i can get them captured before i sell my xbox.


    P.S. Reach isnt all that great.
