You've got to be joking. The controls are almost exactly like CoD? ****in' sweet!

Seriously? You didn't need to make a new thread. Just post this info in one or two of the "Is there Forge in Reach?" threads.

Not to burst your bubble or anything but, I'm pretty sure Forge mode been confirmed by Bungie and other sites ages ago. As for me who haven't been on Bungie.net since well I found out about Forge being in Reach it's kinda surprising I found someone who just found out.

As for the new controller scheme? I'm very surprised by that and I can only prey I'll be able to use a control scheme smiler to Halo 3. Even though I guess it would be kinda weird with the new changes, I just refuse to play Halo with controls like that. Also, I absolutely hate Modern Warfare 2 so when Reach hits, I guess I'll just have to remain a noob until I can get used to the controls.

The article itself is a pretty good read.

One interesting thing I noted was "A smack from behind will still net a kill so long as your target's shields are down. ". So no more insta-kills from punches to the back if you have shields it seems. Replaced by the "Hold down the melee button to assassinate" move one presumes. This leads me to believe that when you change game settings to make someone "Invincible" that they won't have to worry about being whacked in the back anymore!

It takes 3 seconds for the 'backstab' to net a kill, in those three seconds the attacker can be attacked, knocking him off a friendly guy's back and saving the friendly guy.

Not to burst yours but it hasn't been confirmed. Unless you count "All gametypes will remain" then that has been the only evidence.

Glad this has been confirmed really, I was getting worried -.-

Super. How many more months of "OMG FORGE CONFIRMEDD!!!!!111one" threads will we have to endure.

Yes Reach has forge. I've known since before anyone said anything because it's a core engine element and it would be pointless at best, stupid at worse to remove it. There was never a doubt in my mind.

I just want to know what forge is going to encompass.

My main concern is whether or not we'll be able to build bigger and better levels as Reach has much more polygons/ texture than Halo 3, and as a result each object would take up more memory wouldn't they? And Reach is pushing the 360 to it's limits so I have no idea how they'll overcome this issue.

Not to much info on forge itself but still a cool read.
The stuff on the headhunter gametype made a good read aswell.

Do not take in everything you see in these interviews as it's not all correct. Bungie confirmed already that you can still backsmack for an assassination, but holding down melee=execution animation. I still want to be able to turn these off though.

Hell, one of these interviews confirmed the existence of scarabs in Invasion. >.>

EDIT: nvm, the typo was fixed.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone do an execution then, when they could do a backsmack and spare themselves the time and vulnerability. It's just like AvP, executions may pretty much garauntee you a kill, but the downside is that by the time you're finished somebody may have their sights on you...

Lol, IGN, what a joke. Everyone knows the phrase I,G, and N are the first three letters in IGNorant. And as others said, this didn't really confirm anything but the button layouts, and it doesn't deserve its own thread.

I suppose that entirely depends on load, each map is 56kb on h3, so i'm assuming you'll have the same (if not more) of a memory load to deal with on reach. It all whittles down to how they can compress the data, and im guessing bungie aren't gonna be going half ass on this seen as though forge was such a success in h3.

Personally, i'd expect more items + bigger canvases with a few extra features. I doubt there'll be any method of interlocking with glitches though, and i reckon bungie will be scouring every combination in forge to try prevent any glitches from happening, primarily to do with budget + items

Because as bungie says, it "feels good to do an execution". I know I'll usually be doing them. Think of it like T-bagging. What's the point? Executions are basically those, but more badass. You can be shot and killed while performing one, but it looks awesome.

Yeah but remember in the Once More Until the Breach video, they said that now they can fit 30 AI on the screen now even though they have better graphics. Well this is a new engine so my guess is we will still be able to forge more objects than Halo 3.

The probably everyone is having when they are thinking about Forge in Halo Reach is, you're thinking about Halo 3's forge inside Halo Reach.

I expect that Forge in Reach will be similar but very different to Halo 3.

For example, in H3, the main problem is when you make a map with objects as the floors, walls and roof, the game has to load all the stuff on the outside of the map you don't even see. What if Reach has objects that are only 1 sided, so it doesn't have to load the other side. Say under a heading of "floor parts" or "wall parts".
Perhaps these 1 sided pieces will have a bright blue or green other side when in forge and nothing when in a custom game.

And when it comes to interlocking etc... I am expecting something along the lines of a button you press on the control to make the object go through other objects and when you let this button go, the object becomes solid again and attached to whatever you merge it with. Perhaps even a button that removes gravity effects on items so that they will just suspend in their air by themselves.

All these are just ideas of mine but to be honest, it would not surprise me in the least if these things did happen to Reach's Forge.

Last note, about the Reach default control system being like COD.
The person that said that, have you even played COD? I mean seriously?
Either way, almost all FPS games have the same, if not similar control systems anyway. Want to know why? Because they work well...

Either way, hold to assassinate and the melee button are the bumper by default. Uhh very different from COD. Jump by default, sure is A. But pretty much every game has that as A. Not to mention no Aim down sight, so grenades and ADS are different. Any I could keep going, but your comment was idiotic. Just trying to point that out.

That's about it from me for now =]
