Spectus v1 Okay, finally I finished the map! The layout has changed from the one I originally posted. It is NOT CONQUEST! It is a basic Team Slayer, CTF, Assault, etc. map, but does not do well with nor supports FFA. My girlfriend helped with the layout because like some of you stated is too "linear" and "basic". It's got some really unique structures, I think, such as the railings in the base (super cool haha). A very tiny map with an incredibly basic layout. I drew up the layout at work and got to work on it when i came home. It's taken about 4-5 days to make and finalize everything. EVERY OBJECT is ghost merged. Canvas Map: Sandbox Map Section: The Crypt Supported Gametypes: Team Slayer Equipment: NONE Weapons: 2x Plasma Pistols 4x Plasma Rifles 2x SMGs 2x Sniper Rifles 1x Mauler 4x BRs Grenades: 2x Plasma Grenades (Any more grenades would create a firework display) Now with the pictures... Now Lets Take A Closer Look At... Red Base Blue Base Blue Base Again Center Red Hallway Blue Hallway Special thanks to Kanuck250 for help with weapon placement and spawns! I'm a noob in that area of expertise and he got her done flawlessly! Now here's the download link =D Spectus Please leave feedback!
This looks decent then the original Spectus. I like the Rails. You should take a screenshot of the map withought the roof so its abit easier to see the map. Props to your girlfriend. So shes the one who thought of the idea of the railings?
I lol'd a little bit hear (not at your expense...just at your practically quoting me) Anyway this looks vastly improved over the original layout wise (all though i have a hard time getting a feeling for the size and it wouldnt support anything beyond team slayer very well id imagine) I Lurk the forums a good bit and so ive seen a good number of your other maps (i appreciate your fat man map you posted just before this if only because im forced to play it so often and stare at the qrotesque achestetics of the prior installations) and this is the best of your maps achestetically by a long shot, I really like your incorporation of the lower railings of the scaffoldings into your base structures and the way you lined some of the walls with the colorcoded columns. I still have some doubts about the gameplay...but unfortunately my download que is full so i cant offer any tips or impressions... for all i know this could play amazing Vastly improved your preview though
Uhhhh... Is it just me or is this map basically just a long hallway with some turns in it? Don't we call that 'Conquest' in these forums? Sorry dude, but the gameplay doesn't look too good. But the aesthetics are pretty ridiculous. I actually dont like the railings cuz they'd prolly get in the way right there. Sniper would be pretty powerful in this...
Sweet aesthetics. Aesthetics are fantastic! very creative with what you did with the sniper rifles, but yes definitely make this a conquest map, it would be much better. Again aesthetics are sick.
I really like this. The layout reminds me of older maps like Prisoner and Longest, that focused more on close quarters interiors than expansive exteriors. The railings are a great touch, and they shouldn't get in the way if pushing the jump button isn't too much for you. My only concern is that there are only four paths in the whole map. If you have the objects, I suggest adding something. Perhaps a hallway that goes above everything else form one side of the map to the other, and looks down to the middle. That would be awesome, if you have the objects. EDIT: I just ran around the map for a bit, and I really like the layout. It would be great for 1v1 or 2v2, but anything more than that wouldn't work very well for the reason I stated earlier. The one major complaint I have is that all of the tin cups are flickering like crazy. You've got a ton of coincidental geometry going on. If you have the patience to adjust each one just slightly, it would make the map much more appealing.
This reminds me of a Halo: Custom Edition map I once played, in that it's both uniquely designed, and looks very professional. Definitely a map I'd be interested in playing. -=Moxus=-
