Training Created by Hokets Map Description Oh, hi there. I've created a training map, meant to sharpen your skills. If you're like me, you might like a good warm up before going into a match, occasionally get stuck in a rut, or just need some practice. Hopefully, a session or two on "Training" will get you at 100% and back into the game. This map is divided into three stations: battle simulation, target practice, and skeet shooting. Battle simulation You'll need an extra controller for this one. Sign in another profile or a guest to act as the "dummy", and kill it once the game starts. From this point on, it will constantly respawn in one of the two simulations. The man cannons propel the dummy back and forth, making a nice moving target with which to practice. The one on the left continuously moves the dummy left and right. The one on the right moves the dummy along an arch. Don't worry, the cage doesn't block any shots. Target practice This is pretty simple. There are cones set up to be shot, two of which float up and down in grav lifts. Skeet shooting From your stand, you will be able to shoot the fusion coils as they are launched across the map. Your stand Looking out This shows the trajectories of the fusion coils. Weapons I've laid out the necessary weapons here. I've provided the ones that I think require a certain level of skill, and therefore might be better to practice with. other pics Here are some GIFs to show the map in action Tips: Resist the urge to run alongside the dummy while you shoot it. This takes away some of the challenge and promotes bad habits. Instead, try to strafe like you would in a regular BR fight. Try to shoot the cones down quickly. Taking time to line it up defeats the purpose. Feel free to try these stations from different angles. Back up and snipe at the dummy, or shoot at the fusion coils from the side. Do whatever works best for you. You don't really need a specific game type for this, but setting infinite score, time, and ammo is recommended. This map has served me well in the past, and I hope it will help you, too. Download Training Download gametype
Great map. I have a friend who just got halo and he could really use this map. And I like the moving spartan thing... I think it would definetly help him.
Wow, this is a REALLY nice write-up for a first post, the GIFs and photoshopped paths of the fusion coils, I can't wait to see more from you, and if you don't know how to Ghost merge I suggest you try it out! As for the map, its probably the best Training Type map Ive ever seen, and it all looks clean and neat, but its geared toward the community that doesn't play much Halo, and the only people here are people who can't stop playing Halo...
hey man, that looks fantastic. I have seen quite a few training map on here over the years but this one is truly unique. The only thing I recommend is setting it up so everthing doesn't look like it's just sitting out in the open. Obviously this should not sacrifice the game mechanics just add a bit of athetics and make the place look purdy
Wow. this has to be my avourite training map on foundry. nice work. i haven't seen anyone use the dummy practice before so kudos or that, (I might be wrong though) also the fusion coils were pretty cool and same with the floating cones on grav lifts. nice work and it helped me at the beggining of games
Why didn't anyone think of using a second controller as a strafing dummy for a BR practice map before?
Hey, thanks; I really appreciate that. Anyway, I play a lot of Halo, but I still have my bad days (or weeks) where I need this map. I see what you mean, though. I'll probably make a thread on Bungie.net, too. An earlier version had the two "simulations" lined up against the wall, and while it did look better, the angles were really inconvenient. I think the way it's set up is for the best. Besides, the man cannons have to be juuuust right for it to work properly, and I'd probably just **** it up. Thanks for the suggestion, though. =) Glad to hear that. Thanks for all the feedback, guys.
