Pipeline Created by SoloXIII Recommended Players: 2v2, 4v4 Recommended Gametypes: MLG TS 8, MLG King 8, MLG Ball 8 Writeup by buddhacrane I bid thee welcome good gentlefolk! I have a confession I feel I must share with you all; I am an MLG noob! Yes, it's true, the few "Lines of Sight" I've observed are the ones I see floating in front of my eyes after too many alcoholic beverages, and the only "Height Advantage" I'm aware of is the one my lanky friend seems bequeathed with when we go out cruising for chicks! With that said, clearly I'm the man for the job to showcase this magnificent MLG map! Pipeline is forged by SoloXIII - a veteran in map design and sketchup but a newcomer to the manual monitor mass manoeuvrings of Forge itself, although you would never have guessed given his precise placement of perfectly planned pieces. This may be, in part, due to his decision to re-forge the entire map, piece by piece, after having already finished it (ouch!). This particular brand of MLG map is asymmetric (I hear those are rare) and of a more room-based affair, inspired by the previously Featured map "Chromatic" and Bungie's own Halo:CE map "Chill Out"; I use the term "inspired" loosely because Pipeline is very much its own gnarling gnashing beast of a map, ready to tear away at any belief of MLG Pro-ness you possess (As I discovered, getting destroyed by my friends). As is commonplace with MLG maps (I should know) the design is not dominated by audacious aesthetics. Instead we have overarching pipes that bestow the map with its theme and character, while also providing a practical purpose of breaking up lines of sight. Add to that a concoction of weapons, consisting of battle rifles and... err... some other weapons that professional players never use! Finally, the siren call of a solitary active camo will attempt to lure you towards it, helping to funnel players into different regions of the map (don't listen to it, it lies!!!). All that's left for me to say is "It was I who danced nonchalantly with that defibrillator!"... oh yeah, and you should download this awesome map! I'm not entirely supportive of Pipeline, but and I say but, because I did like the creative style and design of the map. I felt Pipeline does deserve credit due to it. However, I felt as if the creative style and design wasn't enough for me. I mean have you ever had a puzzle where the last piece has gone missing? Or the food you ordered is slightly off, because they put a little to much spice in it? I feel the same way with Pipeline, I feel as if its missing something and I'm not saying it needs fixing, but it left a bad taste in my mouth (Oh god, I actually wrote my horrible pun towards my previous food comment.) With all of this being said, I've said this time and time again. I do hate very very many maps, its just the way I am. Pipeline is not a bad map by far, but I have very high standards and Pipeline feels lacking to me. Now, with my high maintenace, high standard comment out of the way. Congratulations SoloXII on the feature and I hope to see more of your maps.
Another abnormally alliterative assessment by the blatantly bold BuddhCrane. Good job, and I mean that on both the write up and the pick of map. Pipeline makes proper use of every placed object, as more serve a purpose in gameplay rather than just aesthetics, which is my personal preference in maps.
Essentially yes, we saw it..check it out and tested it..decided we wanted it featured..solo didn't have an account here so we sent him a message asking him if he could post it here and when he came over and did we featured it.
Awesome map , reminds me of a mario level. Good use of the entire crypts space and multiple levels. Overall a perfectly balanced map worthy of a feature great work man.
WAT Anyways congrats on the feature Solo. Pipeline was my favorite map in H3FFMP2 so this feature IMO is very well deserved. I know you wont do anything more in Halo 3 but I hope you come back for Reach
Woah, I played this like at least 2 or 3 months ago. I dont even know if it was done, but I played like 7 people in FFA and it was pretty cool. I love the design. Its real technical but actually fairly simple. It inspired me with the design of a map I havent finished, which doesnt even compare to this layout. Its a great map well woth a feature. Awesome job Solo.
UUUHHH you dont remember the green pipes that were everywhere in every mario game..... yea thats what i was comparing the tubes to dude.Or mabey you wasnt around for that.
The design of the map definitely deserves to be featured, but there something about this map that doesn't strike me as a featured map. Other than that, it's great but just not featured map great: probably right under that.
