I simply want your opinions on this topic. Everyone seems to enjoy forging infection maps and the likes. Is it because it's easier to forge because you don't have to have a balanced map? My thought is that it is a fun gametype overall, and you don't need to form teams. This is quite the task amongst my friends. Thanks!:squirrel_wtf: edit: Sorry, I did not mean everyone. I simply meant a lot of people. I did not mean to say that everyone is obsessed with infection.
i think you have been wandering around casual maps, thats the only place you will find infection maps so there is alot of them piled up in there. as for people who enjoy forging infection maps, i think they like the challenge of making it fair because no one has managed a completely fair infection map yet.
Reason: You can't play Infection in matchmaking which is STUPID but anyway... so you have to play custom games. Since you're going to play a custom game might as well be a custom map too.
not playing infection in MM is fair enough because it requires little skill other than shotgun camping IMO.
Just because a majority of people that like infection are dull witted morons that make maps that are easy for them to win on, doesn't mean we are all like that. I make them for the reason Skunkrocker said. It's a challenge to make them even throughout the entire game length. By Default infection is not even. one side always has more people in it than the other and twords the end it reverses. So how do you make a map that is fair at the start for the zombies yet challenging enough to not be a cake walk and then fair at the end for the last few survivors while still not being easy.
Hmm, I'm going to go with timed map events, amirite? You make it hard to defend at the start of the game, and give humans more defences gradually. Not an original idea, but I saw your question as a quiz. I think people like Infection because of the feeling when your camping down a hallway and the Infected co-ordinate an attack and swarm you while you shoot bullets as fast as your gun will allow. And it encourages banding together. Whoever is alone in Infection is as good as dead.
Yea, nothing like being alone in a room and staring at a poorly barricaded door with only one clip left while hordes of undead beat on it with relentless vigor. Give me time. Still learning how to use them properly.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've had some bad experiences with infection overall. While Bungie tried their best at making maps that are balanced, they didn't succeed. If Bungie ever tried this again, I'd hope they make the zombies faster than humans (but only slightly, maybe 25%). I personally like the challenge but hate forging them because it'll turn out as something unoriginal. Zombie maps are overused and I hate it when customs leaders put their dumbass zombie maps up.
That's a terrible joke, and it wasn't one, i'd love to just chop you up. But people usually forge infection maps because they join other infection maps and see other's base and think they can make an even better one, except it all is the same and more kids see that base and it keeps going. It's a terrible cycle really.
I dare you to take a look at my confinement maze and tell me it's the same as all the little kids maps lol.
If I had my way I would alter the dashboard on the xbox so I can see what type of game a friend is playing when he/she sends me an invite. That way, if its infection, I can ignore it without giving it a second thought. Because honestly, I'm a nice guy and usually try to play with anyone who invites me; even if I'm in the middle of a hardcore forging session. It turns out that 90% of the invites I get are for infection games. Infection = Fail. imho, that is. --dc
It's fun. Fast-paced (in most games anyway, slow paced ones are boring), hard for one player to dominate everyone else (like in slayer), and yeah, its dramatic. The whole camping in a room with two other people, whispering over mics before getting rushed by a mop of zombies is crazy fun. If you like more 'professional style' gametypes then fine, but I'd say 80%+ people love infection.
....No...just...No...people who play infection are almost always playing such stupid -censored- variants that they may as well just be playing against retarded bots..... My opinion hasn't changed
Infection these days is either much too easy, or so friggin impossible it's not fun. If you win, you aren't justified. If you lose, you feel like it was overwhelming.
I think I got damn close to it with mine lol, the thing is morons wont play fair maps and as over 50% of the normal Halo 3 crowd are morons they wont play good infection maps press menu (main button) asthough acceptin g the invite then view profile then view party details and it tells you whos there and what they are playing on what map. I tried my best its just people dont like zombies being able to fire back against them.
Infection is great the first 10 times, then it gets extremely repetitive and unfair with little kids camping a room with Sent beam or smg's with infini-****in-tive ammo and 1 shot kills . what i think would be fair is VERY limited ammo, zombies at 125-50% speed with no sheilds. but if vehicles crank the zombie speed up.
