Does the hill move or is it one location? I read the post, but I could have missed it through the massive amounts of pictures and text . The map looks sweet, and I will definitely have to download since I love me a sniper. Edit: It really is a shame that they took out the beam rifle on start because team snipers just isn't the same anymore.
The game that we played used only one central hill. It could make things interesting to have more than one hill, but the way he has all the bases set up the hills would have to be pretty close together and really wouldn't make much sense. (sorry, don't mean to answer for you, Furious)
Definitely a fun map. Not sure if its much for a competitive one, but fun nonetheless. Are the sides of the map blocked off? Just wondering because I can see people wandering around.
Looks real good in all but none of my friends really play halo anymore and avalanche definately needs more than like two to three players to get a good game going.
Ah, I remember this map. It was disgustingly fun, with a number of acceptable strategies, including hill-rushing, camping, counter-camping, and getting shot in the head. Last night I believe I had not a single kill, and still managed to scrape MVP. So a good game.
I don't understand how people can say this is not competitive. It's a sniper game. There's tactics, finding a good position for cover yet at the same time a good overview of the killing field, and working with your team to win. If everyone on your team camps and doesn't go for the hill, then you're probably not gonna win. Eh. Anyway, I think it's competitive. Not a big deal, I just thought it was strange.
This map refuses to be pigeonholed! You can't classify it as Casual, since each team is brutally fighting their way to first place. And you can't call it a Mini-Game because there are tons of different strategies. And you apparently can't call it Competitive because there is no CTF on this map. And you can't call it Aesthetic because it was built for gameplay and not aesthetics. That leaves me to conclude that this map belongs in the Race forums. Any objections? Obviously I'm being sarcastic. I myself didn't know quite where to put it, so I chose Competitive Maps because that is the forum I visit most frequently, and it is a competitive map. Kapura, your "getting shot in the head" strategy made me laugh.
I love snipers, and I love Furious..........'s maps. What more could I ask for? (Boy that was one awkward long pause)
I remember when I first played Sniper Hill I was very frustrated because I have unleet sniper skillz...but I still play games on it for some reason. Like Kappy my most strategic move is getting shot in the head.
Duh, it's a race map. Obviously. Eh, if it has a custom gametype, it's pretty much a casual map. But again, nice looking. But I'd have to use Kap's strategy to play this.
That makes no sense. Anyway, I just got another screenshot that I want to share. While I was Forging this map, I knew about how sniper rounds ricochet off the ice. I've been trying to capture a screenshot of someone bouncing the sniper round off the ice to kill an enemy hiding behind the cover. This is the closest I've gotten.
I agree, changing the gametype doesnt remove the competativeness. The next map i bring out will see some big gametype changes, it will be far from casual.. I really like this map, its clean, but very well thought out. Plenty of high and low spots, but none bear an overwealming advantage, good job. And i might have to try getting one of those snipes under the ice, have you tried playing FFA?
No, I haven't played FFA. I was mostly trying to recreate the Halo 2 game which was team based. I might try FFA, but I wouldn't expect it to work that well. With the gametype, you get 2 points per kill but 1 point per second in the hill. With multiple enemies laying in wait to snipe you, you won't spend much time in the hill before you die. So people would quickly realize that the best strategy is to just snipe for "kill points". Without people rushing the hill, it might as well be a Slayer game of snipers. Thank you sir, that was definitely my intention. I think this map is getting received well. I joined a custom party last night to hear one person say "let's play sniper tundra again." It's a great feeling to find out that people are playing your map when you're not even in the party, and that they want to play it again.
I admit I haven't played it, but I suck at sniping, so it's probably just as well. I just wanted to note the awesomeness of the floating crate. (The map does look quite well rounded, and the scoring sounds cool)
alright i played this today after DLing three days ago nd played with like, 10 ppl. It was awesome. Well, for evryone but me it was awesome.lol, i suck with a sniper. Very close quarters kind of person. But my friend owned with a sniper. Way too many headshots lol.I found the "t" in the hill quite useful, great feature on the map...
When I played, I only had 3 people to play with, so we had to play FFA. It was okay, but I imagine that it is much better for team. I actually won the game because I constantly rushed hill, and the time I racked up was enough to overcome the other two players picking me off even though I went -7.
