Yes, I do realize there is already a thread for Heart Gold and Soul Silver discussion, but this thread is purely for discussion of the series as a whole. In this thread myself, and I'm sure many others, would be more than willing to help out anyone with their pokémon experience. You can discuss anything about the games, whether you want to reminisce about your first experience with pokémon, or discuss your current standing with your team, it's all welcome. Some things I don't really want this thread getting to are obvious, flaming especially, if you don't like the series, or a specific pokémon, keep it to yourself please. There is no reason to make fun of another person's team, or for some, make fun of the game or players, we like the game, it's our opinion, no need to ridicule it. Things I do want to see here, are resources, I'm gonna try to keep a resource list on the first page, starting with some I visit regularly. Other good things to do would be arranging battles and trades. Along with resources I will probably be keeping a friend code list on the front page, so if you want to battle with someone put up your friend code so you don't have to tell people over and over again! Another thing is if you are discussing trades with another member, please move the discussion to visitor messages, it makes the thread look cleaner, as well as if someone was asking for help it doesn't push their post back a page where it is less likely to be answered. Resources Bulbapedia - A Wiki for Pokémon Serebii - Pokémon information site for nearly everything pokémon Psypoke - Another Pokémon information site Smogon University Marriland - Pokémon galor! thanks to Ace for making this table. Thanks to Orange for compiling this (It's on catching pokemon) Spoiler Chance of Catching Any Pokemon a is the number we want to get HPmax is the amount of max HP the target pokemon can have HPcurrent is the amount of HP it has now Rate is its catch rate Bonus Ball is the pokeball used Bonus status is status alignment; 2 for sleep and freeze, 1.5 for paralyze, poison and burn. So for the example, ill use a Fearow. Lets say it's level 50. Roughly its HP will be about 149. So in this example you take it down to 15 HP left. You use an ultra ball. Fearow has a catch rate of 90. (((3*149-2*15)*3*90)/3*149)*1) is the equation you'd use first. You get a≈251. If this number is 255 or more you caught the pokemon no matter what. Then you do this equation: You get b=65329.604593004636973211464662236, or just b≈65330. If b is greater than 65535 then you get the pokemon no matter what. Now for each shake of the pokeball it generates a random number between 1 and 65535; if the number is greater than the generated one the pokeball shakes. If it is more than the b the pokemon pops out. It generates 4 numbers. So to find the percent you do (b/65535)4, in this case you get 0.98752228163992869875222816399293 Turn that into a percent, ~98.75%. That is the chance of catching the said pokemon. Kudos for having the dedication to do that, I thought about it, but then decided not to after a while lol. I decided to train instead of fill the pokedex. But seriously congrats, do you know what pokemon you need to fill it? EDIT: On a different note, my Gallade is a total Team Rocket destroyer, all they have are poison and normal types LOL. (Gallade's combination of Psychic/Fighting destroys both with ease) I love that pokemon so much.
The first and second generation games were my favorite. After that I thought there were too many pokemon, I couldn't remember half of them. Oh well, blue and gold are great games so I'm content with playing them.
I haven't touched my DS in a while. I really ought to get back into it, I had tons of fun. Though, I used an Action Replay which accidentally filled my Pokedex (I didn't want that), when I only wanted to get infinite rare candies. I can start over for Platinum, though. My parents got me that last easter for a surprise gift, but I haven't used it much. I'll post my friend code, Randle. I just need to be at my house first.
Psypoke - very snazzy site I downloaded the ROM as I had to get back into the game haha, but it froze a lot. So I'm buying it legit instead! Seriously though, this Pokémon game dwarfs any of the others if you read into it, fantastic :O
Oh wait... I had a Deoxys. I still have it, I think. I did a lot of back and forth trading on that wireless trading network thing, and I got one, which I then got to level 100 through my Action Replay. Kids, don't hack. It makes things boring.
Yeah I had the ROM while my copy was shipping (I wanted the pokewalker :3), froze a lot. Also thanks for the website link, I added it to the list, as well as my Heart Gold friendcode.
The Pokewalker came with HGSS normally.. I bought mine from Target and I got it.. Does anyone have any Training tips? My team sucks arse at the moment, they're all low - high 20's, even my Starter Pokemon. I'm on the 6th Gym too. -.- Heart Gold, btw. Here's my Team : Level 22 Growlithe Level 27 Croconaw Level 25 Flaaffy Level 27 Crobat Level 24 Dialga Level 14 Nidorino or w/e -- HM Slave, don't use really.
ROM's are like digital copies of the game, you need an SD card and a DS card with a microsd slot to play them though. The HG and SS have an infrared spot on the cartridge that allows communication between the pokéwalker and the game, something you can't emulate with a ROM. What I do when training is never skip a trainer, no matter how quickly you want to get through an area, it pays off a lot, and that extra experience is key. It's sometimes expensive to train, go to a higher level city area with your pokemon and start fighting wild pokemon, they never have incorporated strategy so just keep battling them, it's slow, but it's a sure way of training. You'll have to bring lots of ethers and potions to keep them going, but you'll eventually get up enough levels. Other than that, before getting the Elite 4 etc. it's really difficult to train.
As soon as I get my starter pokemom I train it to level 15 before I leave town. By the time I am in the fourth gym I am level 50 with my starter. I can't get my emulator to save my game save. Balls.
Or if you are lazy (and admittedly smarter..) and have a second DS then you can just trade your pokemon to your d/p/p and have them go through the Elite 4 or something.
I know what a ROM is, I've used Emulators before. You said that you wanted the Pokewalker so you ordered it, what I meant to say was that you could've gotten it in-store. I haven't skipped one trainer, and my Pokemon are just at really low levels. It sax. Meh, I'll try and train somewhere. *Shrugs*
Just found my Pearl. Lol at my team on it.(almost all from leaf green) Giratina-lvl 80 Mewtwo-lvl 77 Tyranitar-lvl 100 Venasuar-lvl 72 Blastoise-lvl 76 Charizard-lvl 95 Seriously, how can I save my progress on a ROM with an Emulator?
Well, I found an action replay at my friends house and am using it to catch trainers' pokemon, but in other news here mah team: Loogie (Lugia) - LVL 65 Fia (Typhlosion) - LVL 65 Luxy (Luxray) - LVL 94 Hugh (Ho-Oh) - LVL 70 Suice (Suicune) - LVL 79 Sizy (Scizor) - LVL 70 Firefox doesn't like my spelling.
Oh I was just planning on using the ROM but decided last minute that I would rather have the original copy, and by that time they had sold out completely, so I was out of luck lol, I had to order it. My A Team, AKA the team I spent a shitload of time on are (All 100's) Gallade (Shiny) Zapdos Gastrodon Gliscor Sableye Weavile I feel bad that Sableye's on there, because he's sort of meh, but I'm not gonna go and try to train another to fill in his spot, Garchomp used to be on there, but Gliscor replaced him.
I got my soulsilver the day it came out. I beat the game the day it came out, then beat Red the next day. Right now im just going to work on getting my black trainer card, I already have my black one in pearl so theres nothing to do in that game... Also the site I use for help is great,www.serebii.net. They have everything game related to pokemon and everything you need to know about any pokemon game, it useful.
