While insanity may pry at your mind, even this haunted place is better than the horrors of the surface. 2-6 players. Background: When Awry was first in development, there was a desire to create a map which was distinctly different from others which I had designed. As such, I decided to move away from clear, clean, symmetrical maps and into a dark, unique, asymmetric map. Over it's construction, the founding desire crafted every inch of the level, working to create a space entirely different from anything I had built before, and from most other competitive maps. Awry combines the loved vertically-oriented map with the close-quarters level, merging multiple levels and surfaces with a circular flow in which players can seldom stop moving. As a result, the map's upper and exterior reaches commonly see the bulk of activity, while the ground floor remains a virtually undisturbed dead zone of combat. On top of dark and haunting aesthetics, alternative weapon choice, and ambient sound, the map truly becomes a deviation from the typical level. Weapon List: Weapons on Map: • 2 Assault Rifles. • 1 Flamethrower. • 4 Covenant Carbines. • 2 Spikers. • 1 Plasma Pistol. • 2 Plasma Rifles. • 2 Needlers. • 1 Sentinel Beam. I would say (as would most people on FH) that you should take your pictures without the filters. True it does make the map look cool but it makes it hard for people to see what the map "really" looks like. I would also suggest an overview. Other than that, the map looks good. I'll DL, fly through it, and give you my opinion later.
The map sounds great from the description. It also looks well forged. Unfortuneately, with the filters it's hard to tell much about the map from the screenshots. I would suggest taking an overview shot with the filters turned off. Bravo for using uncommon weapons. I will consider downloading.
I'll get on those non-filtered pics. Thanks for the feedback! -=Moxus=- EDIT: Non-filter and overview pics are up, with the filtered pics available upon clicking on each image.
No. Leave the filters. The filters look great. The map looks pretty simple. However it looks fun. I will DL and check it out. Nice post.
This is one of the few maps I think a FLAMETHROWER actually belongs. Even though your map is relatively small and simple, the Lines of Sight are perfect for Close Combat. Im not cool enough to get groups of 16 people in my customs, So thats why I love smaller maps like this. I think Juggernaut plays the best. GREAT WORK
this map looks thrown together and very small sorry 0/5 for me.........LOOKS like you just layed some blocks down, i could build this in prob.20-30 min. total nothing interesting here
Sure, you could probably build this in 20-30 mins; anyone could quickly build this map from the pictures displayed here and the map itself. However, when you're going in with no idea of what your making, it takes a fair bit more time to get a solid design and construction than it does to replicate another build. That's what I had to do. Regardless, the time it took to build doesn't do squat for how the map plays. And I think it plays rather well. As for what's interesting, I personally find the ambient sound rather unique; generated by vehicles falling from the skybox and exploding on the main level, Awry is one of the few competitive maps to have periodic, custom sound. In a dark and dreary setting, the sound does a great deal to encourage a paranoid feeling in the map and amongst players. For that matter, the darker lighting seldom seen in new maps, I thought, would be an interesting feature to try out. All that said, could you identify some areas in which you think the map is sloppy? Which areas appear thrown together? Thanks. -=Moxus=-
