I'm using a BlackMagic Intensity Pro capture card to capture in 720p. The .avi files captured appear fine when I run them on my desktop with VLC or WMP, as they also function correctly when imported into software like iMovie.

However, when I import the videos into Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8, the files appear squashed (see image below). Is there an easy way to fix this? I'd be surprised if the internet had yet to encounter this problem before. Thanks in advance.

I can fix this problem if I run the files through DivX Converter, but I'm looking for a much less tedious way to fix this.

Don't quote me on this (since I haven't used Sony Vegas Pro in well over a year) but I think there are specific screen settings for the preview window.

On premiere pro you specifically need to go into the options and make the preview window 16:9 for certain renders.

Just importing the video into Vegas smashes it vertically and sets it on the bottom. As in, even the icon of the file in my Project Media bank has the video squashed. :(

Also, if I run the file through DivX Converter, and put it in with the same exact aspect ratio and size set, then the video appears perfectly fine. :/

I'm thinking that it's a codec problem, but I can't seem to find what piece of code would make this program not squash the videos.

    Then I have no idea.

It's either a codec problem or you didn't switch some option on somewhere. I think it's the latter.

I'm definitely hoping it's the latter, haha. Thanks, man.

Can someone else diagnose this problem? Anybody?
