Ok, I NEED a new RTS to get me over the obsession of Starcraft 2. I have WC III : TFZ (Which also includes the first one) and I tried Company of Heroes, didn't like it. I like C&C Generals : Zero Hour, and basically any game that I can mine in and has a large Tech Tree. I do NOT like Halo Wars because of it's shitty ass Tech Tree. Something that definitely appeals to me is the HUD, a great hud like Starcraft's or Warcraft's is what I'm also looking for. Not much else to say other than Thanks for the help guys.
I'm no RTS guy, but my friends are, and they really like sins of the solar empire... maybe you could check it out? I think they said that games are HUGE in that game.
Empire Earth 2 is pretty good, as is the Age of Empires series. Civilization is a different strategy area, but great games regardless. Tropico 3 is one of the greats, as well.
Civilization is one of the most in depth strategy games I can think of, you can do pretty much whatever from choosing yur countries religion, to choosing wether or not to allow yourself to make ships. you have to research techs and in certain cmbination they allow you to make either new units or buildings.that's the only strategy game I can vouch for though, but believe me, if you do get it don't be discouraged by how long a game takes... when I first started I couldn't finish a game in one sitting on it.
A game for me takes 3 hours. Nothing more. But for OP: For games, I would say CnC Generals (You are honestly one of the few people I know to have played that <3) or Dawn of War. Supreme Commander isn't that bad at all either. Good tech tree, good interface, just the graphics do suffer a bit. Other than that, great game.
I know what RTS means, im not a retard... thats why i said strategy game, not RTS. and since the fact its not an RTS isnt completely in-your-face, I figured he might want to give it a try. And this is coming from someone who despises turn-based games with a passion (which is technically what civ is)
Rise of Nations used to be the greatest. Try it. I think I'm going to have to look at Tropico 3, the first one was fun.
