Well, actually, FMJ does increase damage, however very slightly. Look at the damage bar when you add FMJ and you will see the bar with a little green at the end showing a bit was added. Silencers don't really reduce damage, they reduce range. Now because the bullet is traveling slower and can't get as far, that is why it doesn't do as much damage, so it does decrease damage but only long range. True with that last part and true that adding FMJ does not make it instant kill.
Actually that is correct and incorrect, FMJ does not increase damage, the weapon info bar is not accurate. As for the silencer you are right and wrong, the silencer reduces range but since a snipers range is maximum, the only way to balance the gun is to reduce base damage no matter the range. So therefore silencers do reduce sniper damage. Source.
You know what I wanna know before we do all this comparison? What the **** do you get out of quick scoping. Seriously, when you do it, you look like you have no life and you're just trying to show off. Just play the damn game properly.
Not really about the no life part, when you do quick scope someone you get a feeling that you just completely destroyed somebody How does it make you a show off I don't do it unless I have to...
Because what do you get out of it? Absolutely nothing. I could understand if you gained more damage if you were in Scope, ex. TF2, but you get nothing out of it in Call of Duty.
I feel better when i get a lucky no-scope. I'd rather get a hundred deaths and one awesome no-scope than a lot of quick scopes. No-scopes may take a large portion of luck, but damn if it isn't one of the most fun things to do on MW2. Anyway, IMO, both snipers are good, and i don't think one is massively better than the other.
Why would I go into a match to quickscope? You don't get top kills/points, thus, you're a detriment to the team. My main focus is not to show off, rather, to win.
Ok, so the silencer does what I said for other guns but for snipers it reduces damage? Got that. But I don't get the weapon info bar. Even if its not accurate, there is stuff added to the bar so even if its inaccurate, its still increasing right?
A random thing I gotta say I know this is about the Intervention and Barret .50 cal. The WA2000 is a one hit kill from the chest up without stopping power(no silencer) it recieves no benifit from stopping power. With silencer you need stopping power for a one hit kill from the chest up. (a silencer without stopping power wont even kill in one shot to the head I have experienced this in game) This makes the WA2000 perfect for cold blooded since you dont need stopping power. and it has low recoil so you can take out lots of enemies fast. My setup WA2000,fall camo, thermal scope, heartbeat sensor, claymore, smokegrenade(a must with thermal scope you can see others through the scope but they cant see you) bling pro cold blooded steady aim pro WA2000 - The Call of Duty Wiki - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty 2, characters, and more
Eh, I can't stand any of the semi-autos at all... I miss cod4's sniping with 2 bolt actions... They really should've added more snipers to this game.
Thank you Grave robber for clarifying my posts. No anything you see with the bars is inaccurate. I don't even know why they add them. People have looked at the code and FMJ does not increase base damage at all. If you don't believe me you can go out and test it with a couple of friends, that is what I did.
So I guess it is just coincidence that I get twice as many one shot kills with my barret with FMJ than without. That means I'm getting better at aiming at their chest. Hell yeah.
Ive tryed both and honestly the .50cal just doresnt feel like it has the stopping power (i know their "the same") and the intervention is better suited for my personal tastes as a sniper, but everyone has there own openion. besides it takes skill to unlock digital and acog at the same time. And i perfer the M21ERB over both
Did this honestly need it's own thread? A little common sense and using the Snipers yourself would have found you everything you want to know. If you wanted to start a small discussion, there's already a thread about that.
i use the intervention. First of all it is always an instant kill with stopping power and FMJ. I cannot tell you how annoying the .50 Cal is standalone. I also use bling so i use thermal on certain maps and heartbeats on others. The real reasons I can think of though for myself are: The recoil on the .50 cal is fast initially, but take a while for the gun to settle again and the accuracy suffers. THe intervention has slow recoil but settles fast for easier double shots. The sound the .50 cal makes is annoying compared to the quick pop the intervention makes. The intervention feels like a real sniper. It is like: Bang....2...3...Bang...2...3...etc. While the .50 cal you can continually fire and is not that good of a feeling when you shoot it. As for the actual killing, it is only a matter of preference. I like Bolt-action, others like semi-auto. It's all good. So that's my side but I have one more thing to say... Stop ****ing no-scope spraying with the .50 cal and M21. it is so ****ing cheap.
You are aware that, despite what the gun stats say, FMJ does not increase the amount of damage your bullet does when not firing through a wall. It allows for greater damage than usual when shooting through surfaces, but other than that it is useless.
