I know the Intervention seems to be the fan favorite over the .50 cal, but why? What are the characteristics of each that make them different?

everyone that ive spoken to who uses the intervention
just says its because its bolt-action, "a remnace* to the old cod days"
was the best one ive heard

but me i love the 50.cal, i use it 4/5 games if its not a small map but even then

i remember seeing a vid of hutch? but he was quick scoping
intervention, slight of hand, stoping power, ninja or stedy

but once i saw that vid i either notice people like that more or people saw that vid and copied

    My set up:
    50.cal (fall, thermal, life detector)
bling pro, cold blooded pro, ninja pro
    M9 tac knife, extended mags

    Barrett vs Intervention

I use both snipers, a awful lot in fact I've mastered both of them, I also do a lot of quick scoping.

    Sniper characteristics:

    Barrett
    Semi automatic
    Low recoil
    High Damage
    Large Magazine
    Hard to quick scope

    Intervention
    Bolt action
    High Recoil
    High Damage
    Small Magazine
    Easy to quick scope

    Suppressor
    Intervention:
Reduced damage and recoil (still instant kill)
    6/10
    Barrett:
Reduced Damage (not always instant kill)
    5/10

    Heart Beat Sensor
    Intervention
Detects enemy's heart beats and shows them as red dots
    8/10
    Barrett
    Same as Intervention
    8/10

    ACOG Scope
    Intervention
Very useful for quick scoping but lower magnification
    8/10
    Barrett
    Not very good for anything3/10

    Thermal Scope
Intervention Not very useful normal or ACOG scope preferred, due to quick scope ability
    4/10
    Barrett
Very useful works as a long distance sniper
    10/10

    FMJ
    Intervention
    Always instant kill
    10/10
    Barrett Always instant kill
    10/10

    Extended Mags
    Intervention
Very useful as it only has a 5 round magazine normally
    7/10
Barrett Not required but can be helpful as the Barrett has a larger magazine already
    7/10

    Barrett total: 43
    Intervention total: 43

As you can see both snipers are good at different things.

    My custom Classes:

I hope this answers some of your questions, if you need any more help please message me.

    @Duckyz

    Yeah! Go Hutch!

    @sam

    DAMN.
    Thanks...very informative.

So basically, Intervention is better at close range while the .50 cal is better at long range? Correct?

Seems to be more of a challenge with the Intervention, and with more challenge comes more skill. So the Intervention is more impressive and satisfying to kill with.

This... Anyone can rapidly fire with a semi-auto rifle, it takes more skill to kill 3 or 4 people in a row with a bolt action, and it's more satisfying.

But I don't want something that is harder to kill with so I can give myself a pat on the back every time I kill somebody, I want something that will kill the person as fast as possible, regardless if its worth a pat on the back or not.

I muchly prefer the intervention. The scope swings around less (before AND after you shoot) and for some reason i find it to be much more accurate and do much more damage. I mastered it in 3 days. I mean 1000 kills, 250 headshots, all attachments. And i used thermal the whole time. Thermal works great for quick scoping IMO and really helps make your shots. I now use the intervention with fall camo and heartbeat. its awesome. I think this another one of those things like with the SPAS. People think it sucks because its bolt or pump action and not semi auto. Well, its not often that you need to make that many shots that fast unless you miss. Using the intervention and SPAS makes you a better shot because you know you can't miss. I know it has for me.

a sniper who uses stoping power---arrghhh
its a one shot anyware with both snipers

it takes more skill using cold blooded because you NEED to get kill shots (upper chest +head)
its too easy using stoping power i got the 200 oneshot kills for all gilli suits before lvl somthing i remember it being a small number on both times

and also my friend uses the same setup as me but with a WA2000 and M1014

I find sniping with a 50.call therminal/Heartbeat very good, large magazines, and I can aim verry well with my therminal. Only big issue that I see is that I need stopping power for instand kills, so i can't be Cold blooded. I'm not realy sure if the Intervention always instand kill is, but at least with FMJ.

You have some wrong information that I don't want spread around. FMJ does NOT increase damage at all. Not one bit, so saying that it produces an instant kill is false. Also the silencer for both snipers reduces that damage to 50 for BOTH snipers. Those two cause no difference in the snipers.
A sniper that uses stopping power is not an instant kill every where. All snipers do 70 damage across all ranges, and stopping power is damage * 1.4 so with stopping power they all do 98 damage. The only difference in damage between snipers are the damage multipliers. And both of these snipers have the same multipliers.

I Rarely One shot kill with the intervention with just a thermal.
Yes, My shots are led, etc.

Imo, Its just the semi/Bolt part that makes the largest difference.

I snipe with the .50cal with a Thermal and Scavenger Pro, Stopping Power Pro, and Steady Aim Pro. And whoever said that sniping with Stopping Power is nubby is a nub. The whole point of Stopping Power on a sniper is to kill in one shot. I use the .50cal because you can take a quick follow up shot if they have pain killer and survive. The Intervention is a piece of crap. I don't go for a headshot unless I have time to line up my shot. It takes too long to do so. And if you get close with a .50cal you get as close as possible and unload your whole clip into them in less than 2 seconds. You can't do that with an Intervention. The .50cal is the best sniper and we all know it. The intervention does take more skill and I did use it for a day and owned with it

I personally prefer the Barrette. Let's face it, range doesn't really make a difference, and they both are pretty much just as accurate, the fact is the Barrette is better for close, medium, and long ranges while the Intervention is only good for medium and long ranges. The Intervention is more of a camping Sniper, while the Barrette is more like a "frontlines" sniper.

the intervention is used by "good" snipers more often because it takes more skill to use close range, like someone would with the barrett. And face it, if you're good with the intervention(like quickscoping, etc), you'd rather have the more accurate gun, even if it has a lesser rate of fire, that way you can get quick kills without attracting as much attention. I have used both guns, and IMO I like the intervention because it is more fun to get a kill with and in the end that's what the whole point of video games is(having fun).

You just made yourself look like a fool, FMJ does not increase total damage. When you fire at someone behind a surface the damage is decreased, with FMJ it increases this decreased damage. Get your facts right kid.

    Source.

    Both pwn =Medium Range
