Asset Spin-Offs Spin-offs are made only when an Asset map is made but requires the gametype tweaked to be able to support the map. When making a spin-off of Asset, the two simple rules are 1) Gametype is still VIP 2)It is still Vergil/Covenant/Firefight/Brute(not elite) oriented 3)Spin-offs may NOT be named Asset Escort ______________________________________________ Asset Long As the name implies, Asset Long is generally used for Asset Holdout style maps where the escape option spawns at a later time (e.g. 5-6 min hornet spawn). The only change is that the shield recharge rate has been raised to 200%. *sigh. Asset is NOT in matchmaking. There is a game variant VERY similar to the original Asset made for Protocol, called Asset: Escort. From what I've heard about it, it takes the same concept as Asset. I believe that Bungie created this gametype however because it says that attackers start off with grav hammers nd spikers. You normally can't set people to spawn with spikers. I have no idea what's going on with that or how long it's been in matchmaing, but I have never even heard of this Asset Escort until now. Description If anyone has played this yet and still have it in their recent games or whatever, please send me an invite so I can save and try it.
I'm gonna be completely honest, the Asset: Escort gametype by bungie plays absolutely horrible, at least in my last experience. It occasionally pops up in the "Prepare to Drop" playlist, which was where I played it. Quick gameplay summary: *VIP Team* O HAI GUYS LETS GET N THIS WERTHOG K WEE LETS GO TOTHE POINT THING *Brutes* HAMRARS O LOL *VIP Team* WE DIED N **** DONE. Long Story short, Asset: Escort = Failblocks, Asset = Winsauce.
I'm bout to play it right now, I'll tell you how it goes. EDIT: Fuh-Ail. nuff' said. I actually just got a message from some guy over xBL saying that Asset on MM "sucks ballz so you should go die". Makes me sad 'cause it's giving my asset a bad name
Is there anything you can do about it Rifte? I'd be so pissed if my map or gametype was being frowned apon because of bungie's process of map making and gametype making. Sorry that you have some ignorant people messaging you about it.
I have one question. When an ODST dies where does he spawn so that he can get back to his team and protect Virgil. Or do they not respawn?
I'm slightly confused. Do both asset v2 and asset long support ridgeside? Or is asset long required for ridgeside?
They both do. Asset Long just makes games lasting usually 6 minutes such as ridgeside a bit easier. Trying to survive 6 minutes with 90% recharge rate is quite a challenge.
Yes. Rigeside works with both Asset v2 and Long. Long makes the game easier, than regular Asset. Because the regular shield recharge is what 90 right? And with Long it's not so much.
Sounds like an interesting gametype. I think I'll try it some time. I had an idea similar to this like 2 years back. So it's nice to see someone put it to the test.
does that mean it could be changed from the custom power up making it seem more like a hunter than a brute chief? maybe higher gravity, slightly more damage, and a sentinel beam (and the colour change)? and no vehicle use, perhaps a little slower, but not like fatkid -.- or anything like that. As hunters are in ODST and if they work with the map better than grav hammers then i dont see why not, thought it'd be best to check. but obviously all trait changes would need to be checked for gameplay AND how realistic they seem...
thats a really good idea actually with the sentinel beams etc. it could work well. I reckon u should give it a go
Oh, question: I recently DL'ed Asset V2 for my new Asset map, Visage (which will be posted shortly!). Each round was set at 8 minutes, two minutes longer than Asset Long. Have you not updated the gametype on your Fileshare yet? I had to set the round time to four minutes for my game to work properly.
