Okay im looking for a gaming headset that I can use for my xbox and just to watch normal TV, optional spec to work on my laptop.

Right iv'e heard the x41's are really good. I dont really want wires and I want 7.1/5.1 surround sound :) I can live with wires but I would prefer without wires.

Okay what im asking you is if the turtle beach headset is worth the average price of £150? Does anyone here use them and is there any other good headsets that you would recommend instead of this.

Thanks for any help. Also if you can find any prices lower that £130 then I would appreciate it.

    Thanks :)

I know...way too much about headsets. I have to run off right now but I'll need to know a few things first, all which are subjective of course: How much do you value/need:
    -Wires vs. Wireless
    -Durability
    -Comfortability
    -Real surround vs. simulated surround
    -Sound isolation
    -Sound quality
    -Price

    - Prefer wireless but it will most likely jack up the cost like a ***** so I will go with wired.
    - Comftable durr o_O
    - Prefer real surround but sim is possible.
    - Not really bothered, I would prefer to be able to hear downstairs for the door and phone etc so I will say no on that one
    - High sound quality
    - £0-150 would prefer lower than £100 but im willing to go to £150 for very good specs.

I was looking at the AX Pros, are they any good?

I love my AX Pro. It's real surround, unlike the TBs and Astros. Only a few problems are: very breakable (though the customer support will fix it for free), and lots of wires. If you can handle that, I think you'll get the best headset for the money. If you need wireless, the X41 is pretty decent.

You can see my review on the AX Pro on my bloggity blog blog

Thats good too hear, it was actually what I was looking at before the x41's and your blog review on it was really helpfull. Im not the kind of guy thats sits on my headsets like many people I know do, is that what you mean by brakable? You said you had to use force to break yours so im geussing its fairly durable. Im not too bothered about wires, its not like I dont have a lot anyway LMAO ;p ill upload an image of my setup in a second.

Also does it work for PC as well (AKA not 5.1 just a 3.5mm (Is that headphone thickness?) so I can chat on steam. Im not bothered about surround sound etc when using on computer :p)

Its actually quite breakable, particularly the mic. If your careful, you'll be fine. Just don't throw it around.

As for PC, it's actually better. The AX Pro plugs into the computer with either standard 4-plug surround PC, or through USB, which you can use while it's plugged in to the xbox. Practically, this means you can chat on both at the same time or listen to music on your PC while your playing. It's pretty sick for that, I listen to my iTunes while I play, I can also take skype calls while i'm playing.

MY Turtle Beach x1's work pretty fine for me, theres a loooooooong cord, but it comes with one of those little velcrow strap thingers, So your all good if you know how to work it. Sound "comes in both ears",no **** , and the quality is decent, if you dont put the volume on max. Only thing I noticed is that, before I got used to them, whenever I took them off after having them on for a bit, I get pretty sensitive to hearing the real world..

There like, $59.99 CND, I'm not sure what that is in £ though.

So that means I can record my voice while using my capcard as well?
Also does it take sound from your comp and also transfer your mic voice onto the comp? So as I said talk on steam?

Thanks but I think im going to go with the AXPRO tough.

Anyone get a link for buying for the UK? One thats not out of stock -.- Thanks ;p

Yeah, there's a site Roche got his from. It's on my computer though and I'm on the iPod.

Will get back to you if you can't find Roche.

For the audio; as always, you can only choose one audio input for each thing. So you'll have to choose between cap card audio or mic audio. I'm trying to wire my setup so it mixes them, but you have to get some hardware and I haven't gotten it yet. And yes, it does input and output.

I also have turtle beach x1's I LOOOOOOVE THEM!
You get used to the cord after about 30 minutes, the sound is great and you improve in games by so much, because you can hear every little footstep, It helps in games like COD or Halo a lot...

Actually the X1's are the lowest end in terms of surround, however they are a good starter headset (that's my first one). They sell for $60, so you get what you pay for em, but they're definitely nothing close to a decent solution like the Trittons or X41.

For all Euro people looking to buy Trittons BragGamerRights probably the only place you will find that ships to Europe.

Do turtle beachs ever go on sale or anything? 60$ is a bit extravagant for me, I'm only 14 and don't make too much money doing anyhting in my house.

60 is as low as you're going to get for these kind of things. You can get refurbished, however, here. Used might be fairly cheap...I gave mine to Shanon for pretty much free.

Okay thanks for the info on that, im going to go with the AX pro :) Thanks for all the help.

Seems a bit overpriced and I was hoping to be able to see the prices in sterling.

Has anyone used this person before on ebay? And how do you find out if their international sellers? Also is it a legit Axpro because the controlling thing doesnt look like the others I seen, I mean it looks a damn site better but im not sure whether to trust?
Tritton AX Pro True 5.1 Surround Sound Gaming HS - eBay (item 250544835873 end time Jan-06-10 17:34:32 PST)

Its very cheap compared to other sellers and even cheaper if they sell in sterling. Would I get a US plug or an English 3-pin plug?

    Thanks :)

That would be the one for PC, which is significantly cheaper because it doesn't need an audio converter to get the optical signal into 5.1 and send it to the headset. $150 is about as cheap as you'll get, which is pretty cheap for a surround sound headset (X41 is $200 last I checked). Not sure what the price is in foreign currencies, but the price looks pretty good. Sells for more in the US in retail stores.

That's eBay, all bids start around there and most people place their serious bets in the last couple days. You can't expect to win anywhere around $50 unless you get extremely lucky. Though you could probably get a decent price off there if you're going for used...
