So I was just playing Halo 2 campaign because I was getting tired of most of my games and wanted to mix things up a bit and came across a question
Why are there no Honor Guard Brutes?
Yes I know there are Brute Chieftains but during one of the cut scenes in High Charity when the Brutes are taking command they take the Honor Guard's helmets and put them on. I think they look pretty bad-ass and was wondering why they weren't in Halo 3. I think the chieftains should have kept the Honor Guard armor. Or there should be an Honor Guard elite that fights alongside the Marines in the storyline.

What is everyone's opinion on Honor Guards in Halo 3? Should Bungie have included them or not? And I don't making it a possible Armour Perm for Elites in multiplayer. I know that a lot of people wanted that

I think that it was mainly because they were just taking them from the Elites in Halo 2, but by the Halo 3 timeline, they all replaced their Honor Guard armor with better armor (Chieftain armor).

In multiplayer, elites would be way too visible because the bright colors would stand out a ton and it would make the Elite much bigger.

I'm at odds at what to say. I know the brute style of things are changed drastically from Halo 2 to Halo 3. Think what you see in ODST and Halo 3 are so spaced out that... I never really thought to much about it. ... As Regret put it... "A change of Hats" Is all that happens when the Brutes take over leadership. It almost seems like the Honor Guard fell apart as the fleet itself was being destroyed by the Flood. Remember much of the Brute Guardian ship was inches to the Prophets.

I feel this is why we do not account for a large number of brutes with the glowing hats we see in halo 2. It simply wasn't what bungie wanted. For the sake of Halo 3 plot thou, I would suggest the Covenant was broken over the back side with both the Elites rebelling as well Gravemind poping up in the end of the show. To think any veterans still wearing those hats would still be wanting to wear those huge ...headdress. Would be like wearing a sign SHOT THIS!....

SO, maybe that gives you a reply...I would like to see them in Reach if anything....

I think that Bungie may want you to consider this: Don't think about it too hard because you will just ruin the experience for yourself.

Same thing goes with the Spartan laser being introduced in Halo 3, but they had them in Halo Wars 20 years before that or the disappearance of the AR until a new model magically showed up later.

Even tho its a headshot waiting to happen, I think you should b able to use honor guard in halo 3 multiplayer if u want. Alongside that... Arbiter armor.

Don't forget though, in one halo 2 cutscene of brutes taking over, the elites shed their honor guard armour and the brutes put it on. Thats the only instance you see brutes with honor guard armour though. your probably right.

I wouldn't mind fighting the elites again. I thought fighting elites were much harder. They didn't really miss beatdowns and reacted quicker. Its so easy to fake a brute out, its ridiculous and halo 3 legendary is a bit of a joke. So I hope the elites will be in reach and not brutes or a mix of both would be interesting.

Play halo 2 again... your mistaken. As you go through the campaign you will both fight a few honorgaurd brutes as well once the flood show up see there bodies littler the floor. It is to my memory that the dead brutes still on the floor wear special hear dress as well in halo 3. I'll have to check it out....*on Cortana*

honour guard, is mento be hounoured by there status,
they were given the title hounour guard by the prophets,
so when they revolted they would have thought it be propa to dispose of there rank

Perhaps its just because the Prophets, Elites and Brutes all have different cultures? The Brutes being the most different.
The Elites and Prophet have respect for their ranks, they're proud to wear their special armour.

The Brutes just wear it coz its shiny.

Also, in Halo 3 there is only Truth left as a leading Prophet. Why bother with an honor guard when you have the entire Covenant under your command to defend you?

My bad, I meant to say thats the only time you see them in cutscenes I'm pretty sure. I kinda wish bungie kept true to how the brutes were in halo 2 or just gave them elite like armour. I hate how once its shields go away, it breaks off. as for the ones on the floor. I remember seeing a few without heads but that might be a glitch.

Anyway, What do you think will be in reach and why. Brutes, elites or a combination

I would hope/vote for elites, at the time of the fall of reach Brutes don't have a major role in the covie army, they have shitty ships with no grav lifts (quote Contact Harvest) and have basically scraps of metal for armor. The elites at the time are still the prophets protectorates but i wouldn't be suprised to see some h2 style burtes in a few levels. But i think pirmarily it will be Elites that will lead the covie armies against the spartans.

I know Im being padantic, but it was Truth who said that.
But to the point, the elites dont have the honor guard armor because it represents how much of fools they where following and protecting the prophets. And the brutes dont have the honor guard armor because sence the elites wore that armor and the brutes hate the elites, they did not want to ware them, at least thats what I think.

Honor Guards are like the private military, or possibly more like a police or bodyguard force, on High Charity. Like the Human police force, you wouldn't expect to make direct contact with them in a major battle, and it's not like Bungie to just add things in small amounts, anything there is major and well integrated, so it would either be Honor Guards in like 4 levels or none.

They're in a couple of cut-scenes on a couple of levels, but only gameplay on 1 or 2 levels.

While being the arbiter you break some honor guards out of holding cells. They don't have the red/orange armor but the white sliver armor so im assuming their is also classes of Honor guard? Oh haha nvm those were high council elites.

BTW that armor is kick ass, why can't you use the council armor as well. I know its meant for more of a dress armor but it looks so kick ass.

The Honor Guard elites looked weird in Halo 2 (due to graphics) but if they were in Halo 3 with better graphics they would be freakin' awesome.

In my mind I see some kind of a helmet that the brutes would wear that wouldn't have those antler like things and be more of a brute helm.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but does anyone think that having your right should different looks cool. It sort of makes you look like a commander. Cus u know how commanders have some sort of shoulder marking on thier uniform? (Other than your emblem, which everyone has.)

Oh, and thanks for the info on honor gaurd.

I am not sure if the honor guard exists as a position in Halo 3. Its point was part of the Covenant's political/ceremonial system before the schism. Due to the way it occurred though I believe brutes care less about the politics of things then the elites did. As such they probably reverted to the chieftain system for normal life, with the prophets handling the other matters. Guards were present but only as needed, not as elaborate and ceremonial warriors as the elites were. We only see the attacking force of the covenant in Halo 3 though and it is understandable why even if a brute honor guard did exist they might not be present for Halo 3's events. I do know that there are some unique brutes in the cutscenes for The Covenant. As for in Cortana it might just have been an oversight.

As for your elite comment; I don't think that they'd dress in honour guard armour when they've found that all they've been protecting and fighting for is a lie.
