Oh hai, I bring to you guys a map I have recently been working on in Sketchup, I have no name for it at this point in time... and tbh, I'm stuck for ideas.

    Anyway here is the video:
(sorry for the bad quality, I used the Sketchup Animation feature and the quality was shocking)

Oh, and some features in the design are going to be changed, like the big ugly tower, I just put that there to get a feel of what it could be like.

I personally like the tower haha. Anyway if your gona keep that wall, maybe do a half castle like structure behind it, with ramparts on the walls and some external walkways. I would honestly keep it the way it is. You may have to add a tunnel of sorts for the attacking team on the far side of the bridge but i really do like what i see.

Oh and btw how do you rotate flip items in sketchup? I can never lay objects flat on the ground/grid deal.

Err... when you move an object, first click on the corner, or the bottom, and I just drag it to the grid... don't know if that made much sense to you though lol.

Personally, i think as you have got the basic shape and feel of the map but are stuck for idea's, you may as well start forging it; then you can get a real feel for how it plays and decide on what needs changing and adding with more assurance that what you are changing is right thing to do. Also if you are stuck on the drawing board (well sketchup), forging can spark your imagination.

Also, i know this is slightly off topic, but where do you get the sandbox objects from for sketchup? I'm struggling to find a decent set of objects but yours look to scale and have the right texture.

Ye, I think I am gonna start forging it, it's easier to mess around in forge and find something I like, anyway for the objects, I can't remember exactly were I got them from, but I know I got them from a thread here on Forgehub, I'll go search for that thread for you.

    *Update*

Here is Squidhands' thread containing a download link to the Sandbox components, and a Sandbox template.

it actually looks rather good.. im getting a feel of last resort kinda gameplay from this.. If what goes behind the wall is a large base area.. or is that your midway point?

This could be a very difficult asymmetrical map for one sided games.. Good luck.

Looks decent but there's only the two ways to cross from one base to the other and even then they're so close together and open Los between that I don't think it will work well.

Try rethinking the base connections and go from there. Also be sure you're keeping trackof the budget as you plan.

a possible solution that could lead to some good gameplay is this.

the black is a rough outline of the original design (with the green block being the tower). The red is my idea of a raised platform/bridge/walkway.

Thanks for trying to help, and yes I've got to admit that it looks fairly open, I was planning on adding another route across but I might try to use the two basic routes I have already but raise one of them, I also plan on adding a cliff edge type thing that will be a route from one side to the other providing decent cover from below, and a good vantage point, however it will be narrow so staying up there will be a risky move.

That looks pretty neat, but I'm mostly entranced with the models. Do you have a model slate I could have? :) *bambi eyes*
