Sandbox Mage Alpha

    This is my very first post in these forums and just moments after uploading my very first map to Bungie.net I noticed there was already a map called "Mage" with a similar idea. There's probably a few too... Moving on!


    Description:
    Well, first off, you'll likely see the resemblance between this map and Warlock from the previous games. I was actually trying to do a remake of it, but just after I had done the middle tower -I realized I wasn't up to the task, since I probably only played it a couple of times and was trying to created it by studying screenshots, haha!
    So, I decided to create a completely new map, with some Warlock influences.
    This is only the Alpha. I've played a couple of games on it, but due to a lack of custom games playing friends I never got the chance to test it as much as I'd like to. Therefor, I turn to you guys to try it out for me!

    The map is built in the Sandbox Crypt and is completely symmetric.

    I hope you guys enjoy it and, you should really try KOTH.

    Map Info:
    Supported game types: FFA, TS, CTF, Oddball and KOTH.
    Invisibility spawn top middle (180 sec).
    Grenades (20 sec).
    Mauler (120 sec).
    Carbine (45 sec).

    Comments are greatly appreciated since this is only the Alpha. I'm still uncertain about the spawns, so please leave comments and tips!

    You might have wanted to put this in the forge discussion if this isnt the final map but i think its fine. Looks pretty good, just make sure that the "rocks" in the middle dont make gameplay unfair for one team or the other. FR me if you want to test the map.

    Not a bad layout, but you need to interlock more, otherwise it will be a lot bumpy and granades will get stuck between pieces.

    Thanks for the feedback! I'm just learning how to interlock and other useful things atm. Will keep working on this one!

    for a first map, with almost no interlocking, this actually looks pretty good. The only flaw I see is the is the ramp on each base next to the color columns. That corner needs to be fixed, but I'm sure that's first on your list. I can't wait to see it when you're done with the interlocking. Good job on the post too. You're one of the few new users who managed to read the posting instructions first.

    and if you ever need help testing a map, I highly recommend the tester's guild. I can never get enough people together for customs either. Plus, this filters out quitters and things like that.

    Looks alot like warlock thrown on top of Sanctuary. Which i personally am liking alot. But as others have said you need to interlock/merge your stuff a little more to keep the floor smooth, and keep grenades from disappearing.

    Wow, I really like the layout. From looking just at the screenshots, it looks like the gameplay will flow very well! The only problem I would point out is the lack of interlocking and ghost merging the Double Wall Ramps into the ground. If you made a V2 with that, this could be a 5/5 map, IMO. Ima DL it.

    i really like this map! but if you wouldnt mind i think it could use some human weapons? they are all alien.

    Great map for your first post. But like everybody else said its in the wrong forum but thats okay just a beginners mistake. And great with the interlocking too. 4/5 for your first post

    There are a few awkward ramp placements near the smaller bases. Because there are two ramps on each exposed side, gameplay will revolve around the ramps. This reminds me of 'The Pit,' where there are multiple ramps. The weapons in the map do NOT play very well with the ramps, so I suggest editing that.

    Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I'm working on a couple of different maps just to get more used to the interlocking and merging. A Beta version of this map will definitely pop up some time soon, with all points in mind! : )

    Outstanding for a first map. I can definantly see some areas of improvement, but layout-wise, the map is surprisingly good.

    Oh, although a bit off-topic, this video might inspire quite a few people, including you.

    After I saw this video, I nearly wept of joy and amazement, not only from the amazing maps, but from the fact that many of these are from forgehub. It's the first recognition bungie has given this site in a long time.

    There are definitely places that need interlocking, and a few bumps here and there, but still a great map. I'd love to playtest the map with you anytime I can squeeze in some Live time so feel free to add my tag SMGstrings.
