Welcome to smuffles! Smuffles is my first foreghub map and first map i've spent more than 5 hours of work on. This map is best for 4 to 5 per team. This map is currently only set out for one bomb but i may set it up for CTF at a later stage. I can't see this map being good for normal assult, because the bases are ALOT diffrent. Weapon list: Energy sword, 1 on map, 180 second respawn. Plasma pisol, 1 on map, 60 second respawn. Battle rifle, 9 on map, 10 second respawn. Assult rifle, 1 on map, 10 second respawn. Looks like a good map i like how the different bases look and theres some good geo-merging in there too. My one suggestion is to seperate the camo and oversheild from the energy sword and gravity hammer besides that nice job keep on forging 4.5/5
after playing this map, ive noticed that in a you should make more cover, great ghost merging just think you should do more of it. You should create one giant structure in the middle. looking forward to a v.2?
The cover was hard for me to decide on. There was more but the object limit got me. Also i think the cover is alright because of the cars.
I would mention more cover too. I understand that you need room for vehicles, but it looks like trying to walk to the other base would just be suicide. Add more cover, but not so much that it blocks vehicles. I would also suggest fixing up the wooden roof. Right now it looks messy. I know you reached a budget, but you can surely merge those wooden bridges, Are you sure it was the object limit? Do you mean budget?
Same, your geo merges are good but a little off. I saw the grav hammer spawn and was blown away from the awesomeness, then i saw an oversheild. Maybe if the bases were closer together? Could that help the Suicide walk?
Okay guys, I can't acctualy add more cover without removing some weapons or parts of the bases. If you forge over the map you can check that there is about $200 left. I can't even make spawns. From your guys imputs, I'm guessing i should move the overshield and camo, and try a delete some unused parts of the map?
I really don't know if anything can be deleted. It all looks like everything is needed. For future reference, use a glitched map next time.
I wouldn't recommend having an Energy sword, Grav Hammer, Shotgun and Mauler on the same map. Although this map has not a lot of cover (which is a bad thing) and they would get ripped apart, your just putting in weapons you don't need. And i would think twice about putting a cloak and a sword together. I do see some very good merging, which is always nice to have. Overall i rate it about a 3.5/5. Its better than it is worse.
I tried out a game last night and I wasn't too impressed with weapon placement. The snipers completely dominate the map since they overlook the entire map. Some parts of the map need to be touched up on and the gravity lift in the defenders base doesn't work. You also need more cover.
you don't want to use glitched maps. what you want is an OLN canvas. you can use the originally placed sandbox objects and it won't count towards the object limit. this is especially useful with respawn points. unfortunately, it seems that if you want to do a good V2 of this map, you'll have to start over completely, using a canvas. as for the map, you have some really unique and interesting structures. all it lacks is sufficient cover.
Good map with all the geomerging and looks like ghost merging but the problem i see with this map is that there are to little amount of structures and cover which could be very hard to move around without getting killed by someone but stilll you did pretty good with the merging.
Here I amz, posting on the mapz. Anyways, since I managed to play the map with you, here's my advice for a possible v2, or just a new map. 1. Clearly, you can merge and ghost merge pretty decently. I see very little trouble there, except a nice trick to help merge even better is to plug in a second controller and use that as a reference to help place your merges. 2. I strongly recommend your next map to be in the crypt, perhaps covering the entire floor of it. This is a great basis for people who are learning lines of sight, because a smaller work environment allows you to make multiple floors and structures. 3. Go with the flow. If it truly feels that an object shouldn't be where it is, or if you REALLY want to add a structure in a certain area, you should do it, even if it doesn't work with your plans. Wherever an object 'feels right' is where you should place it. (I also believe that only experienced forgers are able to excecute a precisely planned map properly, even now I can't follow a sketch-up exactly according to plan.) 4. You have some cool structures in this map that might be able to be incorperated in future maps. For example, the spike pits made from scaffolding fused into the ground. Imagine that in a larger scale, perhaps even for King of the Hill. Wouldn't that be awesome? All in all, a great first map. Can't wait to see you're next one.
