Have you ever wished that you could walk through a foundry door and get it to go somewhere? (Like a door to get you in a house) It's actually pretty simple to do it...Just follow these simple steps and you can make one! Step one:make a box then place a door against the wall where you want the entrance to be. Step two: set the box to 180 seconds and to not spawn at start. Start a new round. Step 3: place another door behind the one that's already there. Set the door that was already there to 180 seconds and not to spawn at start.Once again, start a new round. Step 4:Make a sender node and put it up against the door, then move it just barerly past the dot for the door that's not spawned. Step 5: spawn the old door and check if the sender node is completely covered. If not, move the node back a little. Step 6: place a reciever node, spawn the box, and you have your door. Side note: if you want to make the reciever node invisible, you may merge it with a wall on the floor. Pictures : Steps (last is result) Extra steps : (last is result) Extra steps result. (note : I did not make a door on this side due to laziness.in a real map you should make a door here.)
I've been doing this since interlocking was found out. I'm not barging but glad some else has thought of this. I'm about to post a map that is using it to. o/ dude -Tusk
Thats really cool. I think it would definitely look a whole lot better aesthetically than the green beams of light for a teleporter, depending on the look you are trying to give. Thanks for posting this.
This'd look really cool and less cluttery for a room teleporter map...sorta like that one on halo two with all the telporters...is it chiron station...the white and red one you know...something like that...yeah...nice description midget...smooth
Thanks for the comments, I was expecting people to ask for a better description, is it ok as it is? The only problems I saw with the teleporter door was that some people don't realise you can go through it,and that it can take a while if you're trying to make the door you come out of an exit also...When I tried it I eventually got it to work, but I kept grabbing the wrong teleporter and had to start a new round many times = / I ended up just paying more attention to the way the arrow on the teleporter was facing so I could tell which one I was moving...anyways, hope the door helps you guys out! \o
I am sorta using this on one of my maps. It is on avalanche and I sunk the teleporter into the ground. It is going to look like you go through a portal. The receiver node is completely underground and when you come out, if you turn around you will just see a gate of light. This can also be used for secret tunnels in maps, like having it in a wall on your map.
Ok, I'll see if I can pictures up, although I don't know how much it will help. I was thinking of that, but I'm not all that into secret tunnels = / people hide in them and never come out until everyone gives up and quits, and this would be pretty much impossible to find.
Ok, pictures are up. I hope they help, although it may actually make it more confusing or not help at all = /
There aren't enough doors to make a Chiron using the tech, but cool idea nonetheless. Nicely done with the pics too. --dc
Nice pictures, they were really helpful for this. So, even though you only touch the bottom of the tele (or the top) you will still get sent through it? +rep'd
Ok Sixpakvb you convinced me to read it and I did so I will say it's good. I'll see tomorrow at school.
Well, if you mean what I think you mean, yes. Basicly, what the objects like grav lifts, man cannons, and teleporters do is that even if you dont physicly touch an object, if you go near it, it will activate. So when you merge the teleporter in the door, the area of teleportation is either at the door or inside of it (if you didn't put the tele far enough) So yes, even though I did go a little further into detail about what you were asking, you only have to touch the bottom/top of the teleporter. And as a note, if you want me to put this in the description I can, but on the pictures I did, I merged the door a little into the box. Doing this can make it look more like a door. I also was a little stupid and didn't realise you could put the 2nd door at the front of the entrance door instead of putting it behind it, cutting down one restart round. You may also not even use the 2nd door, I just do because it makes it easier for me to get an idea of where to put the node. Please excuse me if I made any spelling errors = /
