no you won't. this thread is fine right where it is. Im not going to have the NFL thread ruined in OT
Funny how Phenomenal never responded. I don't think the colts are very good. I'm more worried about the Pats, Steelers, Bengals in the AFC
Haha sorry haven't checked in a while and I just looked this back up today. My predictions aren't lookin so good, I must say. Benson just got injured, Bengals keep Beastin' and nothing else is really working out in my favor. Except my last prediction is looking good-"None of these predictions will be correct". You win this round Capwnage.
How can you say "I don't think the colts are very good."? They're still undefeated. Do I think they'll stay that way? No. But they are undoubtedly one of the best in the AFC along with the others on your list. I would add the Chargers, too. They've been chugging right along the past few games. The NFC is its regular sucky self with the exception of the Saints. They will surely breeze (Brees? hehe) their way to the Superbowl and might even win it. The race for the AFC Superbowl spot is pretty neck and neck (I know the Colts are a few games ahead, but we all know about their tendency to choke), and I just hope the Pats can hang in there for a chance.
The colts weren't bad, and they are undefeated. However, their performance in their last game was poor, imo. They one by on point in the end, because of bad calls from the patriots' coach. Imo, Patriots out-played the Colts. They better pick it up.
Yeah, I feel the Pats should have won that game. My AFC playoff teams are Bengals, Colts, Pats, Chargers for the divisions, and Broncos, Steelers for the wildcard. Nobody in the NFC really matters except for the Saints and the Vikings.
...because they don't have a run game, which you need to win playoff games. I honestly can't give you concrete reasons to "convince" you, but I wasn't impressed with them against a playoff team...the patriots
My *NEW* Predictions: AFC East (3)Patriots... 11-5 Dolphins... 8-8 Jets... 7-9 Bills... 5-11 AFC North (2)Bengals...12-4 (5)Steelers...11-5 Ravens...7-9 Browns...3-13 AFC South (1)Colts...15-1 Texans...9-7 Titans...7-9 Jaguars...6-10 AFC West (4)Broncos... 10-6 (6)Chargers... 10-6 Chiefs... 4-12 Raiders...2-14 NFC East (3)Eagles...11-5 (5)Cowboys...11-5 Giants...9-7 Redskins...3-13 NFC North (2)Vikings...13-3 Bears...9-7 Packers...7-9 Lions...4-12 NFC South (1)Saints...14-2 (6)Falcons...10-6 Panthers...8-8 Bucs...4-12 NFC West (4)Cardinals...10-6 49ers...8-8 Seahawks...7-9 Rams...1-15 MVP=Drew Brees OPY=Chris Johnson ROY=Percy Harvin Comeback POY=Cedric Benson
Ya know, 3 years ago I would have agreed with you that you have to be able to run the ball (and stop the run, for that matter) to win the Superbowl. But that's slowly becoming just another old adage, and is moving towards a general plus, rather than something that's mandatory. Both of the last two Superbowls, and playoffs in general, featured strong passing attacks. That's why the Saints are so scary. Its not cause of Brees (I love Brees, Im a long time San Diego fan), he's awesome, but there's a good number of high octane offenses like the Saints that can put 30-40 points up on a regular basis. Its the defense that sets them apart. Anyway, when the Chargers beat the Broncos on Sunday, they will be in sole possession of first, AND hold the tie breaker (divisional record) for the AFC West. They are picking up steam, and when all their linebackers get fully healthy (and Tila Tequila shuts her hoe-ass mouth), and Nick Hardwick returns to shore up the O-Line.. watch out.
Actually Brees has more interceptions than touchdowns the last four games, but I'm not denying the fact that the Saints have one of the best offences in the NFL. But I don't think the Saints have that good of a defense. They are ranked 21st in the NFL in total defence and 17th in points allowed. I feel that if the Saints played someone with a comparable offence and a better defence, like the Colts(#3 Offence, #13 Defence) or the Patriots(#2 Offence, #8 Defence) they wouldn't win. I also think that the Bengals would win against the Saints, but thats just personal preferance. I agree.
While the Chargers ARE building up steam, I feel like that happens every year with them, with maybe a few variations: Start off slow, pick up steam, then fall apart. And yes it is more of an adage now, you said it yourself, it's still a "plus". The defense of the saints isn't very good, as Benji showed. Even further, the saint's O has slowed down from it's torrid pace at the outset. As for the colts, I just simply wasn't impressed with them against the patriots. I'm can't really explain why, they just don't look very good. But hey, all of this is just high speculation, all the teams will change drastically in 8 weeks when the regular season is over. Right now, I believe that the Cincinnati Bengals are the best team in the league when playing at their highest level. But I'm still not sure if they can play at that level in the playoffs.
Fall apart at the end? Lets see, in 07 playoffs we held Tennessee to a measly two field goals in the wild card game, then went on the road to Indianapolis (the defending super bowl champs) and still won, then went on the road again for the AFC crown and lost by 9 to the Pats in a game Rivers played with a torn ACL. In 08, we won 4 in a row to come back and win the division, then AGAIN went to Indy and won (without LT or Merriman) in dramatic fashion. We then went on the road AGAIN and lost to Pittsburgh by 7. I think you need to re-think your definition of "fall apart"
There's a good chance I might be having Thanksgiving dinner with Brian Urlacher, even if he doesn't come over his brother will be definitely...I can't wait.
Exactly what I mean. Often times the Chargers are the popular pick going into the playoffs (or they were in my experience, I'm not sure if everyone just picks them because of the sweet uniforms) and then they lose, as you stated above. edit: I don't understand the bengals. They play down to bad/mediocre teams (browns, raiders, texans). Then they play great again good teams (ravens x2, steelers x2).
I laughed at the fact that as the Jets were getting their asses kicked, Saving Private Ryan was being played only 3 channels from it.
This just in, Jay Cutler threw another interception. ... This just in, Lovie Smith tried to challenge the call in the post game conference.
Bears' Lovie Smith finds positives in Jay Cutler's performance despite struggles vs. Eagles - Chicago Breaking Sports I just read this and laughed the entire time. (Bears suck)
