I've just gotten into matrices in algebra. They seem kind of pointless as of now, since I can do pretty much all of its functions using other, more basic equations. Anyways, thats now what I'm asking for.

My teacher said they use matrices for things such as 3D art and graphics. Can someone explain what is happening in the matrix that makes 3D graphics, or whatever matrices are used for in games. I'm just kind of interested in what they do. Well maybe not interested, but curious.

Oh ****, if they're used in 3d stuff I need to pay more attention in class, I thought they had nothing to do with that... Dammit.

It's a way of mapping positions in a 3D environment. And more supercool haxxor stuff.
