I have an idea for a new map, and instead of going into forge and just starting, I decided to actually plan the map out. So I went into Rhino and modeled my idea, changed things around, etc. and here's what I have. It's a skybox map what do you guys think? should I do it? I'm not sure what the weapon set will be like yet and I'm having trouble thinking of a name. but i think it looks pretty good.
This would work much better in the crypt. If the map doesn't have railings it'll take a lot out of the map so I suggest making sure you have enough objests to make them. It looks really nice by the way.
If you make this map, I will love you. It looks really epic, and dont make this in the crypt, just mix and match a few peices so you have railings in the correct spots.
Are you sure you have enough double boxes though, i seems like you've used a ridiculous amount of them. As for feed back it would be pretty epic if you pulled it off, it really reminds me of blackout.
it's in the freaking skybox. people shouldn't be mad, they be aware of their surroundings, but I'll consider railings in some areas. I've used 24 double blocks and 26 huge blocks. the game gives you 40 and 30, respectively. and MetaWaddleDee, prepare to buy me some chocolates and flowers, because I just started it.
Did you say 176!!!!! If you use a stacked canvas, and you make that out of 176 objects you could build like two of them fused together with all 100 spawns and everything!!!!! Jesus, I really hope that it just looks way bigger than it is, because I am pretty sure that there are at least 500 objects on the map. Wow, im gonna take another look at that, but i say do it. Lets hope your interlokz are kleen. Edit: Not to sound redundant... but consider railings? No walls, just little things that are about knee high around most of the outside of the map, except where you want obvious jumps.
176 seems about right Death. and it looks to be a midsize map, being bigger isnt necessary. looks good dude.
I swear. I modeled every object myself as a single poly. when i finished, i hit ctrl+a, and it says at the top, "176 polysurfaces added to selection." and my interlokz will be quite kleen, i promise.
I think they all see each rectangle as the surface of one block, where four rectangles is one face of a box.
yes, that's what we call "wireframe display." because there seems to be some confusion, here's what all of my objects look like for reference.
its not a question of being aware of their surroundings. Its a question of how you want people to take your map so to say. I can guarantee that if someone falls off a couple times, they will dislike the map and delete it. Take it from bungies maps like guardian and blackout. They both have railings, everywhere. Anyway, it looks sick though.
This looks a lot like a smaller "Helix" (by Gunnergrunt and AZN FTW) and a mix of Helix and blackout, I think it should be built in the skybubble, because thats basicly where the map is supposed to be made, considering this layout, but in that case railings are an neccesity.
thats a good point. alright, i'll definitely put railings on the lowest level, and consider it in other areas as well. I honestly don't see any resemblance to Helix. and yeah, i guess it does have some blackout elements. however, that was completely unintentional. this spawned solely out of an idea of my own.
Spoiler Spoiler I still think I see a resemblance, though it is not as big, lengthwise, it still bears a somwhat similar look near the center. Then of course, you mix it with Blackout, and I think that is he key element to making a good skybubble map, having somwhat a Guardian/Blackout feel to it, but it still bears somewhat a walkway covered type map. Which, IMO, Is a good concept, I must applaud you for your amazing sketchup layout.
you make an excellent point. thanks. and it's Rhino, to be precise. I'm not a big fan of Sketchup. A bit too basic.
Possible thought for a name: Xysticus. It's a type of spider, in reference to the way the walkways sort of just "spiral out" of the middle.
