Right, I was having this conversation in PPC about an hour ago, but am I the only one who finds piercings very hot? I mean, my girlfriend has her tounge and lip pierced, and I find it immensely attractive and a bit of a turn on if I'm honest. So basically, debate whether piercings are hot or not, and also do you think that they change the way people think about each other, as they are sterotypically associated with rock/punk, and therefore violence/rebels. As Nor said in PPC: Do you agree?
All the girls I've been with (obviously too many to list..) have had ear piercings, one had a nose piercing and I'm down with that. With regards to a turn on.. metal inserted into someone's body isn't my thing, simple as. I dunno about the equal job opportunities, I guess it all depends on the location of the piercing and what kind of job it is.
I agree somewhat with what Ben is saying. Although a lot of my friends have piercings and tattoos (yes i know this is a 'piercing' thread) a few of them have been turned down because they do not fit the dress code for the store they are applying to. But the same goes for the reverse, for places like "spencers" and "zoomiez" people with piercings everywhere and whacked out haircuts are expected to apply there. Its different depending on where your looking to go. And as for my opinion I'm pro piercings, if a person wants to get one then it should be their choice. However, my parents view it differently. I pierced my ear and they made me take it out or else "I would not be allowed to sleep under their roof"
I'm a big fan of piercings, all of my girlfriends have had them, and they can definitely be attractive if done properly. I know exactly what Nor is talking about, since I've had experience with not getting a job because of my piercings; I have a 12mm (1/2") stretching in my left ear, and this generally isn't a problem apart from the people that get freaked out by the size. Despite that, I got turned down when I applied for a job specifically because of it. It's all about company image, so it's understandable.
Thank you! What company was it? I understand their image may be affected but I would've hoped it was socially acceptable by now.
Just a small shop in my area, not a chain or anything. These days I guess most places don't want customers scared away. A stretching is certainly more extreme in societies eyes than a regular piercing, which I'm sure would have been alright.
A friend of mine has 1" gauges in both of his ears, snakebites and a bridge piercing. All the freshman look at him like hes emo or something but I've known him since middle school and i hardly notice when I'm talking to him.
I'm fine with earrings on girls. Past that I feel gets into the "ech" area. If I was a business guy choosing between a guy with whatever or someone without, I'd probably choose without myself, just because it's better business.
Snake bites on chicks are ****ing hot. Aside from that, nothing else really. I never really notice guys with piercings, just because I've been with a plethora of friends, and some have had gages, some have had eyebrows pierced, and many nothing at all. In my eyes, it's no big deal... but from a businesses perspective, they are simply trying to maintain professionalism...
As simple as ear piercing is fine, anything beyond that is a turn-off IMO. Everyone thinks differently
Hmm. This is an interesting topic, I must say. I do find piercing attractive. I agree with Tex. Snake Bites are very hot. Tongue piercings are okay, and so on. I'm not going to get turned on if I see a girl with piercings, but I will notice them first, therefore focus on them more. To each his own.
Belly button rings are hot, why has nobody mentioned this? Belly button and ear I'm okay with for sure. Anything else is questionable.
Basically, if piercings make your ***** go boink then it's hot. If it's limper than when you think of your naked grandmother (curious as to why we think the image of our dead grandmothers is more repulsive than that of our mothers. Oedipus much? Or it could be that they're old or dead.) then it's not. Debate closed?
Anything besides ear piercing I find pretty disgusting. Especially ear gauges. I like people that dress tastefully. I wouldn't hire someone with ear gauges and such purely because I hate them and the people that wear them are usually dickheads.
Way to prejudice there. I don't really mind piercings, as long as they're in understandable places (ears nose, eyebrows, lips) things like back and collar/neck piercings are kinda too out there for me though...
I mean, it depends on the person. I personally don't find them attractive, but it must be the same thing that attracts us to different people than other people.
I hate lip piercings. I just can't stand them. I mean, everytime I see a girl with them, I think in the back of my head "ouuuch", and can only concentrate on IT instead of what she actually looks like. I know that "they don't hurt" but, I can't get it out of my mind what it would feel like to just grab the thing and rip it out. As I'm talking to them, I'm thinking, what if it got caught on something. What if it pinched when you kissed people? What if it got infected and started bleeding? So I don't like lip piercings. Nose piercings usually depend. I mean, the smaller the better. If you have a big ball or something, it looks like a big mole on your nose unless you're really close up. Ear piercings, eyebrow, and belly button piercings are fine with me though. For a rule of thumb though, if it could scrape my face while I'm making out with you, it's gross.
