Here is a tutorial on how to get immovable items to float without ending the game. Step one: Get yourself at an angle where the object you want to float is below you, but not to close, but so far that if you pressed A, You wouldn't pick it up. Step two: Press X to bring up he item menu (make sure that the object is already on the ground), then hold the back button. Step three: Moive forward by lifting the left joystick up a little, the press A. You should now be holding the object, have the item menu up, and still be holding Back. Step four: Let go of back button after you have moved the item to the place you want it to be. Step five: Navigate around the item list until you find something nice, then press A. Step six: Restart the round, and if done correctly, you should have a floating oject. (you can delete the second thing you spawned.)
I actually don't understand this at all for some reason. What back button? Move where? Why? Video please?
Um the back button is the one opposite the start button (on your controller, not in game) I think, though a video would be plenty helpful
If this holds true, OMG. Breakthrough! That is, if it is easier to do than it sounds. Hopefully... S&Q is tedious, but it is reliable. I hope the same holds true for this method. I will give it a try as soon as I get off work. --dc
It works quite well. If you have someone else (maybe just a guest) that can look at the object from a different angle, you can get objects placed just right, without the hassle of having to save and quit all the time. Of course, if you can line it up exactly how you want it on the ground, You shouldn't have to use a guest. Great find. It will be very useful.
I'm confused... the way I get immovable objects to float is to place it on top of another object, then either remove the object on the bottom, or delete it; the immovable object on top I placed just floats there, no need to restart the round or save and quit... Did I miss something here? Or is this some kind of advanced stuff I have no business in discussing with you veterans?
It's just for getting the objects to float at awkward angles that are hard to make by just building something underneath Also building towers to really high places can get annoying
3 examples of where your technique doesn't work: 1)awkward angles 2)floating over death barriers/off the map 3)when the height u want to float something at is more than a box/less than two. (Basically odd heights) Sure in most cases you can use that method, and I usually do..but for "advanced" floating this technique will be useful
This technique can be used to build things over death pits. Just make sure you are facing a direction which would allow you to move sideways over the area you wish for the item to stay, and place the object you want to float on the nearest piece of land.
It works, but your positioning of the object is limited to left stick movements. Meaning while placing the objects you can only strafe left/right and move forward and back. You can't even rotate or 'zoom' the object. For the amount of effort you will waste trying to place the object where you want it you might as well have Save and Quit anyway.
I've got a video made for the people who are still having trouble but, I'm having some problems with adobe premier. any help? http://www.forgehub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8002
cool thanks for the new way of floating there is another way if laggy spawn two objects really fast then delete the uneeded one and the other is floating where it was spawned ok for blackout sky but almost useless on foundry
