The Covenant temples looming outside Mombasa are reminders of their growing power. Age of Doubt is a ground floor Sandbox map made for Team Slayer, Multi Flag, Neutral Assault, and Multi-Bomb Assault. Its smooth design along with top notch spawns make this a great 4v4 to 6v6 competitive map. Thanks to arrrghSAM for screenshot editing. Big thanks to all testers and the Forge Union staff. Nice. The maps looks really good, but I think the lines of view are too long and open. I like some of the structures you've got going on though. Really sexy looking map. Well Done!
its definately a very well made map that was thought out quite a bit. The only complaint i have at all is that the structure in the first pic doesnt fit aesthetically with the other ones. All the other structures are pretty flat and level, but the curved bridge thing just doesnt fit very well, although it is forged well
Age of Doubt plays really nicely in my opinion, especially in Team Slayer. Great job Nevz, thoroughly enjoyed testing! I would answer concerns but that's your job and I don't want to intrude
Looks like theres quite a few bumps at some parts of the map. I agree with rewib65, that it looks wierd when everything if flat and has the same angles, and then theres that curved thing that just doesnt look like it fits. I like that you made it the centerpart inte one big structure though, and not lots of random obstacles. And that you can go through it with cars and stuff like that. Some parts are still a little random, like the obelisk in the sand on pic 1 to the right. I can't see the theme of this map.
Great map, however I noticed a slight error. At the Spartan Laser spawn, you have the Laser itself set to 30 seconds and the Obelisk it is resting on set to 180. I'll see if I can get a good sized part playing this tonight and make edits about gameplay if I can. Edit: Forgot to mention this: The spawn need to be reworked completely. Some of them are facing outside the map and are in awkward places. They need a lot of work done, to be honest. Also, the weapon layout is questionable but testing it will have to prove that.
I helped Nevz test this during pretty much every variation and testing session, and I never noticed the Laser/Obelisk problem, although it's possible the wrong version was uploaded to his fileshare or something, I have no idea. Also, the spawns seemed to work well in-game, I never had a bad spawn and wasn't disoriented at all when spawning.
Another successful spam post... The map itself is darn well thought out and I'm loving the pyramid aesthic bit. I will admit the lines of sight are a tad open...but only a small flaw in a creative map!
Isnt it Nevz? Fantastic map. Plays great, loads of funs, and good for multiple games/party sizes. I love it! I dont get this fuss about the curved ramp. It plays great IMO. I mean, if it was all angled like the pyramids it would'nt be walked on as easily. I like it a lot because it's nice and smooth and it provides cover if you walk on the lower edge, but a height advantage on the top edge. Complete win.
I'm a bit concerned about the name... :/ Why is it called Age of Doubt??? Otherwise, I really like how smooth everything looks! I think you could have interlocked in a few more places... but that doesn't matter too much. Edit: Idk.. just wondering.
If I remember rightly, Age of Doubt is something in Halo Wars, but I can't remember what exactly, as I sold the game a long time ago. I don't understand why the name would matter anyway.
Age Of Doubt It's from Contact Harvest. Also, the Name of a map is EXTREMELY Important. The only problem is, on many ForgeHub maps, they name the map something that sounds cool and isn't even associated with the map.
Sure, the name of the map is extremely important, I understand that, but I was questioning why it mattered to Erico.
Good answer lol. off topic, i think the maps name is one of the defining points about the map itself. The name is the first thing someone sees and should attract attention. The map itself is great, ive had a run around by myself and it is very clean and well made. nicely done nevz
I dont think the name is that important really. I mean, half the time it seems like the forger just opens a dictionary and pics a cool sounding word. If you look at half the maps here the name wont even relate to the map. . . Anyway, Nevz said during testing that he likes making random HW referances, or something like that.
Sorry for the late response to this. I don't read the Halo books, Age of Doubt is an upgrade in Halo Wars which increases Covenant technology which, therefore, fits with the description of the map.
