I've heard that if you unlock Recon, it doesn't appear on the original Halo 3 Disk. Is this true? Because if so, I'll take my Mythic Disk with me to my friend's house because he doesn't have it. Thank you.
The multiplayer is the same on Halo 3 and the Mythic discs. When the game loads, it gathers info from Bungie.net, it loads your badges on your service record (like the Spartan Officer badge) as well as the fact that Recon is turned on. Obviously it will load all the information every time but the Recon info will only need to be loaded once so it can be used offline too. So yeah, you can use it on the regular Halo 3 disc but you must have the Mythic disc to earn it.
That's actually not completely true. Recon loads every time you connect to Live, and I found this out the hard way. My account is restricted from Live until I feel like paying for a month of Live that I got for free on an auto-renew using a deactivated credit card. I can't even use Silver. And whenever I load Halo 3 Mythic, Recon doesn't appear on my player model. It shows me wearing full Mark VI. My point is that it loads every time just like all other things on your service record. It can't be used when you don't have a connection to Live.
really? thats bull! i think they shouldve just made a little download thing, so when you pressed the button to activate recon, just like when downloading a map from b.net, it would download the next time you went on live.
If they did that, than it would be stored on the Hard Drive, then people could transfer it from Drive to Computer, than make it publicly downloadable.
I would doubt that playin on LAN wouldn't madder as Recon is coded onto the disk. So as long as you unlock it via Internet it should be unlocked. Also make sure you play te original Halo 3 disk before playing it offline, so the Recon can be unlocked.
Scobra is right, Recon will not show up not when connected to LIVE. I've been to 2 LANs since ODST came out and multiple people at each had recon when they were connected to LIVE, but it is not wear-able on when offline.
well if you guys are wanting to use recon at a lan party... then i suggest just adding a modem to your router... so you all have internet acces.. and just switch the lobby to system link only..
Sergeant Johnson can't be copied, although i don't know about moved, but i suspect not. But to be sure somebody would have to check and I'm too lazy to do that right now.
i think you know thats not what i mean... they shouldve given a code when you activate recon to redeem on xbox live. so if johnson couldnt be moved, niether would recon..
The problem is that Recon isn't a downloadable feature, but rather an ingame feature, and the codes that you get don't unlock something in the game, but rather give you free download of whatever the code was for. This is why Johnson, the Gold lancer, etc, were all 99,999 MSPoints on Xbox.com.
ughh. they could have done that with recon. i never said it was a downloadable feature. i said it should have been.
I agree with FreshLegend they should have made Recon DLC, they could have easily charged 99,999 for it like Johnson, that way you can have it without being connected to live. And think about it if they did make it dlc they might have some rich kid nub out there buy it and they could have made a profit on it.
