Well, this isn't so much a debate, as it is a question (note that it is posted in General Chat, not debates). Ever since modern man began finding ways to "feel good" whether that be from some kind of plant, a mixture of gases, or anything that affects your senses, other men have criticized them for it. Even sex, something that is SUPPOSED to happen, is looked at as immoral and sinful by almost all of the world's major religions. There's an old saying that says "What's so bad about feeling good?" Well... really? What is so bad about it? How come everytime you do something that feels good, somebody is telling you why you shouldn't. It's almost like we don't like each other and don't want each other to feel good. There are plenty of ways out there to feel good that won't necessarily hurt you. Nobody should EVER be critisized for anything like sex or masturbating, let alone smoking weed. Please do not turn this into a debate about how some drugs are bad for you. If a person is well aware of the addictiveness/harmful side effects of a substance, but still chooses to do it, that is there prerogative, and it is none of your business. There are ways to get high that won't hurt you.
I think it's looked down upon because some of the side effects. Smoking damages the lungs, unprotected sex can give STDs, etc. Now, being a person who is ignorant to all religions, I don't know why it's considered immoral, and am actually interested to see responses. While I'm not pro or anti drugs, my school is right next to the biggest school in my city which has a lot of kids who do drugs. I find most people act differently in ways they would, most likely not if they weren't under the influence. Not to mention that some drugs and alcohol can potentially kill brian cells, and I find the idiotic untollerable. Hope that may clear somethings up, I'm only going on experience.
Nothing, there is no harm in compromising your morality to feel good. Infact, not feeling good is compromising my morality. I know how you feel, everytime I hold a blunt to my hand and people lecture me about whati t does to my body, how it's immoral, blah blah, ok great. It's my ****ing body, not yours. I'll do whatever the **** I want. If I wanna **** ugly girls, I don't have to hear about other peoples bitching and moaning about why I shouldn't have ****ed her. It's all pink on the inside. Society is ****ing broken, it's got all these standards and whatever and it's ****ing retarded. You don't have to listen to jack ****.
Its rather an abstraction to be honest. I personally feel like its like life is a walk to the ocean, but yet all of these people see this nice little pond and go there instead. They say "well why bother walking all the way to the ocean when we've got this great little pond here?". Well, in fact, as represented by the ocean, there is much more to life than sex and drugs. But most people these days are lured in by them and never get to experience everything else life has to offer. Once you start, you get addicted and theres no going back. Sure, sex has its purpose, but everything in moderation. If you become addicted, it most certainly does become unhealthy. And dont even get me started on drugs.
I think your underestimating the number of people who take class A and B drugs casually, and then ween off them instead of moving on to heroin or large sums of cocain. You could assume that sex and drugs in large quantity are a lifestyle choice at the time, but they most certainly do not dictate your life in the future.
IMO, I find it sad that some people resort to artificial consumables to "feel good." Go do something with your life, do a sport you like, chill with friends. That makes you feel good. Drugs just show you have a **** life and nothing better to do. Sex is k though.
If drugs make you feel just as good if not better then hanging out with friends, what is wrong with it? It's not like drugs are going anywhere.
Its not like drugs are getting you anywhere. There's only negative effects, NO positive ones. And don't give me the "it makes you feel better" bullcrap, because right after you high you feel twice as low.
And then get broke buying a shitload of weed, you start doing stupid **** for more weed, you eventually get so desperate you get in trouble with the law, and then your whole life is ****ed up. Nuff said.
I don't know if you are aware, but you are able to interact with people while high, and there isn't as much memory loss as you think. Knowing this, it is completely possible to lead a normal life under the influence of marijuana. Also, it's ****ing cheap. 1 dime bag (10$ or 5$ depending on who you know) can last me like 5 days.
Not all drugs give you a come-down, and not all are illegal. Assuming that all incidents with drugs are just going to spiral downwards until you sell your soul for it and destroy your life just emphasize how uneducated you are in the matter. But Dow, you are sounding a bit pathetic now. Your not even trying to justify anything, your just makin sure people know you smoke weed.
Umm, yes I am. If it weren't for the ability to feel good through abnormal means, I would be dead right now. Again, this is exactly what I am talking about. I do something that feels good, and you try to make it seem like it's a horrible thing to do.
That brings me back to what I said first: if you have to smoke weed to get any enjoyment out of anything, you need to go find something that you like doing and is somewhat beneficial to yourself. And if you're suicidal, you go see a psychiatrist, you don't smoke weed.
No, I don't need to, but if it does feel good, why shouldn't I? Ummm, when did I say this? All I am trying to say is that people need to stop coming up with reasons why people shouldn't feel good.
You're just making this conversation go in a complete circle. To answer that question, read my other replies.
Because a) believe it or not, there ARE negative side effects. and b) In many cases, drug abuse leads to people doing stupid ****.
I like how you throw that one in there and compare it to sex. Smoking weed is intentionally losing control of your body and your BRAIN. You'd have to be retarded to think you could get me to think that it's okay to smoke weed. You'd have to be clinically insane to honestly believe it's a good thing to do. That's just the weed talking.
