SOLAR Taking inspiration from Halo 2's Ascension and using nothing but forerunner scenery items to create a consistent aesthetic, this map is built entirely over the air off of of avalanches cliff. It is setup for all gametypes but is mainly for small team and FFA games such as doubles, 1v1, oddball, etc. Has a bit of a Halo 2 style so you may want to switch to SMG starts although this is not essenntial. Weapons: 1 Sniper (1 spare clip, 120 second respawn) 1 Rocket Launcher (1 spare clip, 120 second respawn) 1 Shotgun (2 spare clips, 120 second respawn) 2 BRs (Both 1 spare clip, 45 second respawn) 3 SMGs (All 2 spare clips, 30 second respawn) 1 Pistol (2 spare clips, 30 second respawn) 1 Plasma Pistol (30 second respawn) 6 Plamsa Grenades 4 Frag Grenades Pictures I avoided using human boxes and kept strictly to the forerunner items. You can see the sniper tower in the distance, the barriers against the back wall are actually a disguised grav lift. Two plasma grenades and the plasma pistol spawn in the center platform. A better view of the sniper tower, The sniper rests against the barrier we see on our left, two plasma grenades are against the right barricade. The barricade on the bottom floor at the front has a BR rested against it aswell as 2 frag grenades. The rocket launcher spawns here but watch for grenades that may be thrown over and in to blow up the power cores. Part of the "Solar Panels" that make up the barrier between the map and the land are visible, both behind the structure and to the left. Here is the shotgun platform and ledges up to the walkway where you will find an SMG and a BR with 2 Frag Grenades. There are 2 plasma grenades that spawn in front of the teleporter. More of the solar panels can be seen behind. Here's the two-way that leads off of the shotgun platform. And Here is where it leads, I had to mess around with recievers and senders to avoid getting a teleporter blocked message. Behing the barrier is an SMG and the grav lift leads up to the bottom of the sniper tower/ platform. Finally here is a full shot of the aforementioned solar panels, they look slightly better from ingame and they do their job whilst providing an interesting setting. Comments and criticism will be appreciated, I know it's small, but space and suitable items are limited. Download Link: SOLAR
this map looks pretty good. Im sorry but i wont download because the pictures dont describe the map well enough.
Well a good thing to use is the glitch to get your theater mode out of the level. That way you can take better pictures.
I haven't had a chance to try this maps yet, but what are those "solar panels" can you place yellow shield doors now? How big is this map? (it looks pretty small in the pics)
I'll be sure to look it up. Those Yellow sheild doors are actually energy blockers, they're like sheild doors, but you can't walk through them. The map is small, 6 players is probably the max and that would be quite crowded, I would recomend 1 v 1 's or maybe 4 man slayer, doubles too.
Nice job mate, I was planning on making a map on the outside of the map and you have given me some interesting ideas. I am going to download it now.
This looks great aesthetically. I'll download to see how the game play is. You have the privilege of having the other darks second Legendary DLC map download. The first, was very similar to this. It was also off the cliff. duh-duh-duh-downloaded.
Trial and error mostly, but also using bridges as a base for your floors is a good idea as they spawn perfectly flat, spawn one in the air then do the save and end method, put a couple down evn and you can build on top fairly easily.
This looks like an amazing map and I would download it, but i won't get the maps till the end of this week. Reminds me of Ascension, like you said Some suggestions: -maybe put some more small pieces of scenery around? I'm not sure if Avalanche has alot of those, and if it doesn't this map is still really good without any -guard rails maybe? i'd give it a 5/5
Unfortunately theres not much scenery in Avanlanche to be placed, and the major boxes are all in a completely different human style, and there's no real way to add barriers other than the corner ones I've already used.
They aren't actually a floor on this map, but I've been experimenting with that on other projects, It's hard to see what your doing with them though, Impossible without filters, but I'm sure you could make an amazing light bridge map with them.
