Wow, just like in the GoO... Well, I'll submit my map to both sites! Good luck to everyone that competes!
Can we have a download for the SoB gametype. I know sob also relies on the map(no weapons) but a gametype download will save time
Save One Bullet is a default gametype built into Halo 3, like Hide and Seek and Alpha Zombie. Can't wait to do this, I was actually wanting to make a zombie map for quite some time now.
Fantastic! Now my unfinished infection map has a reason to be finished! Heck yeah, I hope its all right that its already started. So save one bullet is what it needs to be? Will supporting other types help us in any way?
Infection is typically a playlist best played with larger parties, ranging from 12 to 16 players. With such a large group, lag can start to become an issue, and since budget glitching your map can increase this lag, sometimes maps become unplayable. So, in order to try and prevent this, just stay within the budget. The Save One Bullet gametype is a default infection variant that everyone should have. While having your map support other gametypes is perfectly fine, maps will solely be judged based upon the gameplay experienced with the Save One Bullet gametype, so no, it won't help you in anyway in terms of the contest. However, if you wish to post this map on Forgehub, it wouldn't be a bad idea to support multiple [infection] gametypes.
Just to be clear on the budget glitch thing, the OLN canvas maps for Sandbox aren't considered budget glitched, are they? The Foundry Infinite Money maps are budget glitched but not the OLN canvases, right? I don't want any confusion on this, just in case I decide to attempt making an entry into this contest.
I will help to fix your confusion. An OLN canvas is just the default map with the original items moved to another location on the map. So OLN canvases are ok because they are not budget glitched. There are several OLN canvases that are also budget glitched. So all you have to do is find an OLN canvas that is not budget glitched as well. That should answer your question.
Lol, I knew that about the gametype i just never thought. Not a fan of sob, so i doubt I can do good. Anybody got an OLN canvas that isnt budget glitched cause mine are. Edit: is it possible to add in a machine gun turret in a bad spot? it isnt in the weapons but it is a gun so idn
Quick question, can we use custom gametypes? My gametype is based off the save one bullet gametype and is very simmilar, just a few tweaks, would I be able to use my gametype?
It can use the gametype however all of them are going to be judged upon how they play save one bullet, so it can play whatever infection types you want as long as save one bullet is supported. Now, another question, would using colorblind and juicy on the map be acceptable for playability? I ask because I want to give a good eerie night-time feel to the map and think it would give it an atmosphere all its own.
Yes but what im asking is if my gametype could be an exception, its only about 3 weapon traits different and leach is on.
If you get to make your own gametype then everyone will want to, inturn them having to download not only maps, but the gametypes that go along with them. They don't want to deal with that. Just make your map compatible with Save One Bullet.
You are allowed to place weapons on the map, however, humans cannot pick them up in the Save One Bullet gametype. This may seem to defeat the purpose of having weapons on the map at all, but they are not displayed, so if you intend your map to be played with other gametypes, it can be. OLN canvas maps are allowed, just not budget glitched ones. I think Dream did a good job explaining the difference. Machine gun turrets are allowed, because the gametype permits humans to use them. Simple answer, no. The reason we are using a default Bungie gametype is because everyone has it, so you only have to worry about downloading the map. Maps that are made to be played with a specific gametype are fine, but less intuitive customs players typically ignore the fact that the map they are about to play requires a specific gametype. Also, maps that are geared toward a specific gametype rely on this gametype, and so if they are played with a default one such as Save One Bullet, the gameplay usually isn't all that great. So in short, we are urging you to use a gametype that is available to all by default to allow maximum satisfaction for the largest group possible. Lighting and Filter effects are perfectly acceptable, just be wary that if they are used poorly then they might end up detracting from your map's overall enjoyment.
Allrighty, thanks for clearing that up for me... Also I didn't even know humans could use turrets normally on save one bullet, that may prove useful, or may create a stupid unreachable human.
Ye if i could figure out the turret or maybe even two it can either make or brake the my map. But hey thats why u test and see wat works and wat doesnt
