Foundry Forgery

    Forgery

    Opening statement: You don't have to read





    Hello, everybody. This is Benzu13. You don't know me, and I probably don't know you, either. Or if you do know me, you'll probably think I'm a hypocrite for posting a Foundry map after dissing people who use Foundry over Sandbox. I have a few statements in defense.
    1. Forgery needed the Industrial aesthetics.​
    2. Forgery needed crates as moveable objects, tiny blocks just won't do.​
    3. Forgery needed Foundry's low ceiling for anti-escaping purposes.​
    I am proud to release Forgery, my greatest creation. You cannot judge this map by any screenshots I put in, only by gameplay. I'm not that good with screenshots, so I recommend downloading Forgery at least to take a clearer look around, rate, then delete. And even then, only the creative gameplay truly defines the level.






    All I have to say about this map is that it is fun, enough said. It combines an entirely new type of gameplay than virtually any other map to date.​




    Important info: Reading is recommended
    • Forgery uses half-cover. This means that whatever is coming up from the ground is only true cover if you crouch, this encourages defensive/offensive movements.​
    • Some of these covers are shield doors, meaning that after ducking, you can charge right through your cover! (Or the enemy to you)​
    • A very interactive part of the level is the grav lifts. You can use a grav lift to:​
    1. Use to get to the shotgun/mauler spawn. (Depending on symmetry)​
    2. Throw on the crates level with the floor and ... viola! Instant cover!​
    3. Throw and use to get an upper hand in battle.​
    4. Throw in the underground and the grav lifts will work as mines and trap people, making them sitting ducks to you!​
    • Be sure to take advantage of the teleporters, and be sure you know where they are.​
    Weapons and Equipment:​




    2 Carbines, 1 spare clip each, 45 sec respawn

    2 BRs, 0 spare clips each (dude, they pwn on this map), 45 sec respawn
    2 Plasma pistols, 30 sec respawn
    1 mauler (symmetric), 1 spare clip, 30 sec respawn
    1 shotgun (assymetric), 0 spare clips, 45 sec respawn time
    2 Beam Rifles, 60 sec respawn time
    2 Needlers, 1 spare clip each, 45 sec respawn time
    1 Rocket, 0 spare clips, 60 sec respawn time​





    4 plasma 'nades, insta-respawn

    4 grav lifts, 60 sec respawn
    1 Bubbleshield, 60 sec respawn​

    This is the best overview I could get. Small, huh?
    But it gets better...​

    The map is fast-paced. You usually start balls-out in a Carbine fight.

    This is the crate system. Throw grav lift down, box rises up until it hits the reciever node. Nifty yes?

    This is an underground hallway, where you can find the needler and two teleporter nodes on either side.

    The underground of the level serves important usage to non-noobs. The rocket, for example, is for pros only. (JOKE) And notice the shield doors in the background, it serves for a perfect ricochet.

    And that's my map. And remember, you cannot judge the gameplay from screenshots but only experience. I expect to have a YouTube video soon to show a good example to all the jerks who need a video to download.

    This is probably the best close range small-scale map I've ever seen. All the other ones were no good and weren't very creative. By the way choosing foundry over sandbox isn't really a bad thing it just depends on what you need for your map.

    5/5 for creativity
    5/5 for forge skill
    ?/5 for gameplay (haven't played yet)

    If you think this map is impressive in forging skill... beware. Gameplay is the utter highlight of it all. You need to try just one slayer match with 3 people, and you won't be disappointed at all.

    It's not as original as Distortion, but it's just as fun (most say funner) and it's far more playable.

    Sweet. I gotta see this. It looks really awesome, and about your foundry-sandbox thing, nobody cares. Either way, you can make amazing maps that do rediculous things. So, this looks like amazing use of may forging techniques, and I really cant wait to play it.

    Great map, amazing gameplay and originality, ctf works better than slayer though in my opinion. I forgot to ask you when you tested this what the respawn time was for all of the grav lifts though. I thought this was gonna be in your map pack or are you not releasing them together anymore? anyway this map definitely deserves a 4.5/5.

    The respawn time is the what I put in the list: 60 sec. This is appropriate because even though the map revolves around grav lifts (better than it sounds), with 4 of them next to one another you usually won't be in trouble. And also, the map pack was cancelled. Instead, I'm just putting this in my Originality Portfolio (see sig), when I reach 5 maps to put in my Portfolio, I'll re-release them all and soon retire.
