I want to set up my laptop with a cord that will allow me to use my laptop on my TV. As in I could play PC games on my TV. Does anyone have any ones that could suffice? Also a link to an amazon or best buy page of the product would be preferable, my dad doesn't do business with other companies.

What are the inputs on your TV? What are the outputs on your PC?

If it's VGA, which it is likley to be, you need a Component > VGA convertor, not sure about setting up the audio for laptops though.

My HDTV has a VGA input, so i just hook my laptop up with a 2 sided VGA cable. There is also an audio cable thats part of the VGA that can be hooked in on both ends.

Most Laptops have a Computer Monitor cord for uses such as a projector. My gues is a capture card could work(NEVER TESTED!!!!). Or a monitor cord to your tv. If your tv is a flatscreen go look for the moniyor cord. if not find a way.

My Dell Studio has an HDMI out, as do all of the modern Dell range laptops i think. Almost all laptops have a VGA out, but for either of these two to work, you need a pretty modern tv too.

The beauty of my dell though is that if i output my laptop to tv, i can choose to display on both or just on the tv. If i choose just the tv, i can alter the resolution to greater than my laptops capabilities. My laptop only does 1368x1080, but my tv can take 1920x1080, which is beauty.

If you want a recommendation I need to know what your TV inputs are and your laptop outputs are.

Does it really matter? Laptops only really come equipped with VGA or HDMI out, and both have build in sound, so it's just a case of which one your laptop and tv supports.

Most laptops use a screw-less VGA cable actually, you'll need one of those atleast for the laptop end.

That exact VGA cable is what i use and the screws dont get in the way even though the laptop output is screwless.
