Description: This is a thread for someone to post their music, and the next poster must review the previous song. (The post above yours). After the poster has written their review, they post their own song for the next person to review, and so on. If you do not have a song, state so, and the next person can post a song instead. Rules: -Try to be open minded. If the post above yours isn't 'your style or genre' then imagine it is. Think in such a way that your'd appreciate (example) R'n'B such as you would say, punk rock. -You can post two different songs in one if you want, as long as they are 'different genres'. The reason for this is that people seem to still judge songs by their taste, and are not considering other points of views. You don't have to post two, and you don't have to review both, you can still only review one song if you want to. But don't post any more than that. -Also, don't post 5 and expect the next person to want to waste their time listening to 20 minutes of music they may not like. I know there are more than two types of music, but hopefully this will give the reviewer more to choose from. Also, they must be songs, not random videos you just happened to find. -Try to keep reviews relatively short. A couple of lines, and a final rating out of 10 in your opinion will do. Don't write an essay, but at the same time, don't write 3 words and rate it. -Make sure you listen to the whole song. Don't judge it if you've only heard 20 seconds of it, and even if you've heard it before, then listen to it again to refresh your memory, maybe your taste has changed. -Occasionally a youtube embeddy thing will be broken. This doesn't mean that you can ignore the post and move on, Click the link that should still be there, and watch it from there. But don't expect a user to have to search to listen to someone else's song, they may not even like it. -Keep it legal. Don't post Illegal download links, or songs that the artist doesn't want to share. This means use methods such as youtube embedding (post the http code), because that will work on nearly all browsers, and still be legal. -Don't judge users by the song they post. Keep replies in a review format, don't send PMs saying that you think their taste sucks. You can post a song that you may not even particularly like if you want, just to see what other perspectives are. Have fun, keep the music relatively clean, next post gets first choice of song. By the way, If I've put this in the wrong section (general chat) then feel free to move it.
YouTube - RAINBOW BUNCHIE (aka FINAL BOSS OF THE INTERNET) I rate your's 0/10. So distastefully. I just hate 4:31. (4:31 is the right number for that song that has no sound?)
OMG!!! I was cowering in the corner of my room. Itz gonnu eat me!!! Oh the horrur!! But seroisly, WTF is that? 1/10 Here's my song: YouTube - Foo Fighters - Cheer up Boys (Your makeup is running)
If I have to hear the words "There's a world out there" one more time I think I am going to puke. There is an extreme lack of vocal harmonies and instrumental breakdowns for the genre. They also have a hard time of conveying the sound that they are going for. The sound is very monotone and unexciting. 3/10 YouTube - Mayday Parade-Three Cheers For Five Years(acoustic)
The singing is quite soulful, and the piano play seems to keep within the same minor key, but at some point within that, I was expecting a powerful backing drum bridge and for the singer to sing his heart out. Overall, 6/10. YouTube - Shinedown - Second Chance - Official Music Video
I've listened to this song many of times, due to it being on my itouch, overplayed on the radio, and I've also seen Shinedown in concert. Overall, it's a nice relaxing song to listen to and I don't mind hearing it over and over again due to liking it so much. On a side note I think that having the words underneath the video is a little weird, you'd think for such a well payed band that they would know how to have a decent music video for one of their most well known songs today. YouTube - Rise against - Savior
I like Rise Against - they've always had a punk-influenced style in the mostly poppy mainstream genre they cater to. This song in particular doesn't strike me like Ready to Fall or Re-Education, but it's very Rise Against, so I'll give it a 6.75/10. YouTube - THRICE - Digital Sea
I like it. They don't confine their music to a specific genre and have many different styles inside the same song. It's mellow, and intense at the same time and it almost has a trance effect. 7/10 YouTube - HCTK - I Should Have Asked Where The Remote Control Was Before I Killed You
Wow, you thought Cheer Up Boys was bad? I don't think I would be able to listen to this longer than 10 seconds ever again. I don't know how I managed more than a minute. 1/10. EDIT: K, I guess I skipped the OP where it said pretend I liked that genre. Well if I liked that genre, I would first have to have lyrics rolling across the screen. This is worse than Smells like Teen Spirit before everyone knew the lyrics. Also, it seems like there is a lot of 'roaring' in literally all areas of the song. I picked four random parts in the video and they sounded all the same. However, the drums are pretty fun to listen to, I must say. Anyways, here's some Offspring: YouTube - The Offspring - Stuff is Messed Up Pure epic
I never been a fan of the Offspring, but that song was decent If I were to exclude the video (which I am). The guitars were alright, boasting power chords can be okay. What caught my eye was the lyrics. Singing about how humanity is ****ed up is an all too common outlet that I believe that songwriters should move away from. All-in-all, it was decent. 7/10 YouTube - Modest Mouse - Dramamine
Haha, is it even fair for me to rate this? Either way I want to bump this thread. First of all, this is probably a bias review considering I am a huge fan of Modest Mouse, and this song comes from my favorite album of theirs, so I of course love it to death. Jeremiah Green has a near perfect drum beat in this song, and he has already made it known that he is one of the best indie rock drummers out there. Of course Eric Judy is an excellent bassist, not in like crazy bass parts that are difficult, but blending perfectly with Isaac's energetic, wild guitar. This song is a bit more laid back than others, and I absolutely love the guitar in it, like most MM songs. Isaac sounds great in it as well. 10/10 YouTube - the new pornographers - adventures in solitude
I actually like the new pornographers. lol. American analog set has the same BG for their song 8/10 :] YouTube - the american analog set - hard to find
Enjoyable, a bit drawn out. Necessary? I dunno. Ended abruptly (ironically, no?) memory cassette - "bicycle"
It was a lot going on, and it didn't really fit for me. Some good melodies there though. YouTube - Johnny Flynn 'Leftovers' (Full Version)
Really, really not my style of music. I'll refrain from being to negative, but his voice was a bit annoying, and the music lacked any real feeling. YouTube - Drunk On A Tuesday (Uncut) - by Right Side of the Tree (ALBUM ON ITUNES NOW!)
Probably not something i'd want to listen to over and over again, but it was quite amusing to listen to. His voice was a little annoying in the intro, but it got better. The lyrics were kind of funny. YouTube - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - You Better Pray EDIT: I can't get the video to pop up on the thread, WTH?!?
His singing was interesting, more Amber's kind of music, but not really mine. Kinda calm imo. YouTube - shemales from outta space of death - you know this would get five star rated at youporn
That was an odd song. Not really my type of music. T'was weird listening to what i thought was techno at the beginning, and then 'slipknot-ish' kind of music towards the end. Can't count how many times I've head this on the radio: YouTube - Champagne-Cavo BTW, I'm lovin this thread.
I haven't heard this on the radio at all. I thought it was ok. Seemed a bit too repetitive for me, dunno. 8/10. Pretty good. YouTube - Hamtaro Theme Song (Cantonese Version) As for all asking my taste of music, obviously I'm trying to score low.
I really like the beat (no joke, it's stuck in my head right now.) However, the fact I couldn't understand a single word that was being said threw me off. YouTube - Austrian Death Machine-Come With Me if You Want to Live (Feat. Adam Dutkiewicz)
