I was able to replicate it. I'm rendering the BNet video now. EDIT: [bungievid]92612526[/bungievid] I'll try and write the process.
After watching the videos, I must admit, that is impressive. However, the process, as some have said, is very inaccurate compared to methods we currently utilize. With normal interlocking and geo-merging, we can usually get things perfectly straight, eliminating bumps and other faults. This is important in gameplay for obvious reasons. No one likes to strafe over bumps. The second problem with inaccuracy is objects' crookedness. Again, no one likes crooked objects in a map. If we can can discover and utilize an efficient method that forces straightness of objects in this process, I believe it will make forging much easier. But consider this, my ogling companions, is constructing elegant structures the most important aspect of map creation?
Btw, I have my account back Yo yo Death so you should PM me if you need help. I am also mytic... the guy that decrypt your first post. So, it is based off the object multiplication, nice find. What a scope People said the same about geometry merging. I feel that once we have the process down it will improve. It most likely that the process will flip, will place these merged items and make level after it. It should be more useful in working in the dunes of Sandbox if any spot. Thou this isn't truly for all of forge it makes Sand box more useful and able to make something out of the box. Lets not judge the worth of something till we have a finial product? Question... the Save and quit leaves it where we last put it correct?
Am I the only one with a mac??? I've hated that Silverlight thing since it came out... I've tried downloading it like 4 times and it never works... fuuuu- Anyways, could you just put the link up so I can download and watch?
Nah I've got the same problem Erico, Bnet videos don't work on the Mac version of Silverlight, even when you keep installing it. Looks great, if we can get a precise guide to it, I'm sure this'll be just like interlocking or geomerging, where it comes as second nature. Great find!
I've found out that it looks like you can't have anyone else in the party. But maybe thats just hosting issues.
The glitch definitely has to be on host and you can have other people in the party, but only the host can control the glitch. So far here's how this works (use my above vid as well): Start from a canvas that has all default items placed Go to an item you want to use Move at least 3 of the same items off the spawn Make 2 of the 3 items moved set to spawn at start = no and max the run time min. Restart round Wait for the items to refresh themselves after 30 seconds You'll see them pop back up; grab one and don't let go Wait for the geometry to refresh itself again The geometry will then quickly duplicate itself to the geometry you are holding You now have a glitched geometry item that you can easily interlock AND geomerge Move to desired place on the map by carefully eyeballing and leveling it Press "A" to let go no need to save and quit, round over etc.
I have a mac and it let me download silver light just this morning to watch that video. After you click the download link you have to find it in finder and click on the box thing, then it will download. hope this helps As for the glitch, I truly believe that this will revolutionize the way we forge, and make floating structures much easier to make. Also I was wondering can this be done with non ONL items?
Confirmed works...Some one should stick this now...sigh. Alright I'm going to work out any bugs out in the new few days
This part never ever works for me. They never 'refresh', they just stay where thy are forever and cannot be grabbed etc.
interesting... From the looks of it, It can interlock all the way up to the teardrop. An even easier carpet merge, no?
It looks like the object is first held at the angle it was at when he held it to begin with. Because my statement above made no sense, let me explain. You could press the object against other objects to get it flat or at the right angle, move away from whatever you pressed it against, then when the object duplicates, gently push it to where you wanted it.
This look's awesome! I'll try it out in abit. It will make geo-merging a hell of alot easier. Can somebody please just use a capture card to record it, that way we can see you setting respawn options and what not. You can't see any of that on Bungie's rendering service. I don't have a capture card so I can't do it.
I know this has been asked... but has anyone tried to see if this works on non-oln objects? like tube pieces, wedges, etc. ? Great find by the way! how the OP came to find this out is beyond me. cant wait to get home and try this out!
? I am very excited about this glitch. I rarely geomerge on Sandbox unless absolutely necessary. With the description of the glitch it seems like the object is just straight no clip just like Far Cry. Reading a few of the comments confused me a little though. Can you still rotate and move the object around after it has reappeared?
set the run time minimum as high as it will go. dont do anything to the run time max. i dont think, i havnt tried it yet.
